Favourite signing this summer for me (unsurprising from the boards number 1 Mayenda fan).

Genuinely think this lad has it all. Slow start for preseason but remember his age and his growth in the past 18 months. Big statement because I think there would have been a lot of teams thinking about taking a punt on him, will be getting some appearances for Spain u21s this year imo.

    Class news!

Really good and I firmly believe some decent clubs would have been sounding him out and the fact he only wanted to stay shows what the feeing is at the club at the minute!

Good news after good news this window, feel daft having minor groans about a centre half now :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    ****ing delighted at that.

I don't know how he or we will do this year but I think he would decimate the championship if we were to go down. I like the long term business we are doing. Feels like the club has elevated itself and it belongs on the premier League more than it does in the championship.

I hope I'm saying I doubt we will ever get the chance to see how Mayenda would do in the championship. His 18 premier league goals in the first 5 months of the season has ruined that prospect!

I think he’ll start slow and learn off the bench then come to life when he’s in the groove

It's not long since Newcastle were being bigged up, on here, as being real contenders.

The reality is that they have half of a very good team and half an average one.

Finishing a CL point behind the likes of Forest and Villa doesn't make then the club they believe they are.

Spurs and Man Utd had horror seasons but they'll improve ...

... Newcastle are better than us but they need to look over their shoulders and keep an eye on the gap <laugh>

Odds on Mayenda being the new number 9 and announcing it with the contract?

Lucky as owt last season. At best about 7th most talented team in the league. Got the rub of the green with distracted teams elsewhere. As an illustration I’d take brightons squad ten times out of ten over theirs.

    Also **** the mags.

Lots of players are starting to settle on ‘their’ number. Roefs took 22, Reinildo got 17, Xhaka obviously went for 34. Think Mayenda took 12 when he was with the Spain age group teams. Probably Guiu takes 9 but he had 38 at both Barca and Chelsea. Maybe he sticks with that.
