Wonder if any others were genuinely interested in him, especially with his wages supposedly doubling. Sounds like he pushed to come back to us
It’s not his laidback style that bothers me. It’s more the fact that he can’t beat a man, his end product is lacking and his touch is bad. He's only young so he has time to improve, but he’s got a very long way to go. The fee we paid isn’t his fault at all, but if it really was anywhere close to the reported £5m I’d snap someone’s hand off at half of that.
I wouldn't if Miller and Belloumi or another winger have a set back we cant be in the situation like last year were we used make shift players to fill the position we have to have a like for like this season to be able to progress from last season.
I said this at the end of last season when all the talk was that Leeds would want £5m for him or something: they were never in a good selling position. It's like us with Ömür - when everyone knows you want rid you're not going to get the player's full value, so you end up having to accept subsidised loan deals. Pretty sure I even said they'd end up having to loan him out.
Hope Kamara stays -but wouldn't be surprised if he goes. Maybe he isn't settled here? I can see him having a role to play even when Millar and Belloumi are back. If we get JG and are able to go for Frigan then I suspect that could mean Joseph on the way out?
The clubs interested in signing him permanently for a fee would struggle to match his wages and make it an affordable deal. Clubs willing to pay a fee for a loan would likely want some of his wages covered by Leeds. If we pay 10k a week extra on his wages than the others were offering, it's 510k - not far off a 'loan fee'. I don't necessarily agree with the approach (financially) but I think this is how we're getting the deal done. Good player and comes straight in the 10 role.
If you're hinting at McBurnie then yes I agree there is a risk of us ending up in that position at some point over his 3 year deal.
It’s happened at Leeds quite a bit. Bamford is on massive wages and they can’t get rid for that reason. Same thing with Rashford and Sancho at Man Utd. Clubs back themselves into a corner when they offer huge wages to players. Chelsea, despite spending hundreds of millions on transfer fees, actually have a much more sensible wage structure than Man Utd, for example. Chelsea’s biggest mistake was signing Sterling on over £300K-a-week but after him, it’s a lot more balanced across the squad.
Can Ndala play right....?... I know his YT is predominately left side... OLM just posted Belloiumi back before Millar which seems like an acceleration on fitness... in that case maybe Kamara will go ...? ... shame he looks more at it this pre season.
Unless Akintola has been training elsewhere he’ll likely need time to catch up as I don’t think he’s had a pre season
**** about and find out. Acun is such a useless twat, should have just got him signed up whilst we had the chance.
