I'm Sunderland born and bred (now live in Yorkshire) but my dad now lives and has a business in Shields, he says even though it's about 60/40 Mags the vibe is mostly respectful, I think living in close proximity everyday with the "enemy" means you have to be more amicable, whereas being in Sunderland you can more or less villainise Geordies as "inbred scum" etc like we did when I was a young lad.
Walk into the stand at the minute, hopefully we get some movement on the CB front soon - such a key position
In all fairness to Clark, he did put a shift in while playing for the lads. Not like the other excuse, who should have been left on a sanitary towel at conception!.
Good, he needs to earn his place though. Strikers will always get plenty of minutes over the season, so he will play lots this season - so will Mayenda and Isidor if he stays
Find it strange we are paying a few and covering his wages when he is basically a developmental player we have no prospect of singing upon helping in his development. I very rarely question KLD and Speakman as they do it far better than I could and they have done incredibly so far but this seems like a bad piece of business to me.
If he scores some important goals it all but pays for itself. obviously could go wrong but its also not a 20m signing.
Amad was hardly a bad piece of business and it was a similar deal with him I don't mind a loan like this, would hate 3 or 4 loans like this, but it'll come down to him producing on the pitch He produces on the pitch and keeps us up we will likely to be able to target a better calibre for forward next season. Every transfer is a risk but I like this one, if it allows us to really go and spend on 2x CBs
I think it’s more amicable than we all let on apart from when the derby days come around. I’ve seen Sunderland shirts walking through Newcastle and nobody has attacked them. Maybe a bit of banter. Same in Sunderland, I’ve seen the odd person walking about in a toon top. As long as it’s not match day and especially derby day, we are fine with each other. The night we beat them in the rain at SJP, I had been drinking in a designated pub for Sunderland supporters and walking back to my Nans and bumped into a couple of them and got smacked. We certainly aren’t amicable to each other on derby days and it’s times like that, I wished I lived in Sunderland
I don't mind us getting straight loans in if it means we can spend £50m+ on two centre backs. But they need to be ready to impact immediately. I'm not convinced Guiu is but the club disagree clearly. And I value their opinion more than my own
Feels very different to me. We were loaning a player from a league above us in the hope of getting out of that black hole of a league, I become much less enthusiastic about loans when they are straight loans from a league rival. Hopefully he scores goals and doesn't impede Mayenda's development.
