It is nothing like what Rangers have tried and failed to deal with.

Give yer gums a rest bud. Its that attitude thays got you into trouble. Both teams have been fined for songs/chants that have no place at a football match. Keep it out of our game.

    Whataboutery will get us nowhere.

As a celtic fan, I want us to be beyond reproach. I don't a flying **** whether other teams are 'more guilty' than us.

I am not indulging in whataboutery, merely rejecting the notion that our "case" is the same as theirs. It very evidently isn't.

Well your first post on this thread was to bring up Rangers 'racist and sectarian' chants <laugh>

Anyway, that wasn't my point really - imo we need to be concerned about our own situation and not what other fans are getting up to. This should be a wake-up call, what our fans sing can damage the club's image and finances. We all know what songs are the issue (ie pretty much anything that mentions the IRA) - to suggest otherwise is disingenuous to say the least.

    No it wasn't.

No we do not know. To suggest otherwise is inaccurate.

    FFS <laugh>

    Sorry - your second post.

Why are you in such denial about this? Whilst you, and others, persist in this denial we're getting absolutely nowhere.

It is being widely and universally reported that we have been charged for pro-IRA chanting. Four reports below, I could've picked plenty more. No, they don't mention the specific song or the specific chant but are we so flipping desperate that we're trying to find some loophole in which we can sing 'acceptable' songs about the IRA?

i am not in denial about anything.

The club doesn't know what the "illicit chants" are.

    This is a fact.

everything else is conjecture. I can indulge that if you like?

    You'd argue black wiz white...

Everyone knows what was (and has been ) sung! The Board and the Manager have asked for it to stop.

I'm not getting back into this same discussion!

In case you're wondering - any song that contains IRA!

    This is ****ing crazy.

Uefa charge Celtic with an offence without being given the details of the offence.
An offence brought to their attention by a policeman who took no action against the support (incidentally....or not, a man who officiated in Celtic games).
We were charged with an offence without being given the details of the offence.
We had no right to represent ourselves at the hearing.
We have been punished without being given all of the details pertaining to it.
The decision shall be lauded and Celtic may not even bother appeal to find out exactly what "illicit" songs they refer to.....and they may not even care.

I know how you feel about this, but surely you can see that this is bullshit. I am surprised that folk are so content to accept this nonsense, even if they don't agree with the songs.

Everyone knows what was (and has been ) sung, but nobody knows what the charge is for.

    Oh ffs <doh>

Here is a direct quote from Strathclyde Police Assistant Chief Constable regarding what Eddie Smith reported the Celtic fans for

"It is his duty to conduct a debrief with the match delegate after every match, whether it's an SPL or European game.

"I'm really concerned, primarily for my officer. I can understand emotions are running high among the Celtic support but let's be clear - this is not Eddie's fault.

"It is the fault of supporters who are engaged in sectarian or hate-filled singing - or in this case pro-IRA chanting."

I don't recall any IRA chanting from this game. In fact I haven't heard it in some time. The Hearts match last season and not for a long time before that.

Corrigan has been proven to be very very wrong before. why are you so happy to take his word for it.

The club do not know what the "illicit chants" are. Nor do you.

I give up. If you haven't heard IRA chants at celtic games for a very long time you're deaf. It happens virtually every game (even if it's only once a game and only two morons shouting Ooh ahh up the RA during the celtic symphony that still counts)

Just to say, Celtic will continue to get in trouble whilst you and others indulge yourselves in your brand of pedantry.
