I think the gaffer was clever, he knows William's quality, and it is more to do with the mental side of the game with William's. Giving him a couple of appearances, rather than just have him training IMO was a smart thing to do.
He is 21. A fully fledged adult. Seems only us consider that to be a kid. That ****house player Da Vinci yesterday is 17. We would have fans saying he should be on loans or playing with the under 21s before being gently eased in in a few years.
I disagree. Plenty of teams over the years have been bang average but the gaffer has got them at the right end of the table. Luton under Jones, Huddersfield under Coberan, Millwall under Neil last season
Bulking up for a player like him isn’t always the option though. Look at Cole Palmer, he’s stick thin yet he never gets knocked off the ball because he knows how to use his body properly and he’s aggressive
bulking up for a player is almost never the answer, you need to be able to use your body properly, you cant just get rugby tackled off the ball or thrown to the floor, thats a clear foul football is a sport where smaller players can be incredibly successful, especially attackers
its only preseason but ive been pretty impressed with kamara, i think serg has allowed him and encouraged him to try things, last season he always looked like he was scared, i dont know him so im just making an assumption that may be wrong, but i feel like kamara is a player who needs a shoulder round him and encouragement, at least on the pitch he looks to have a good partnership with drameh too, he coulda scored about 3 or 4 goals in pre season, but his positioning, he looks much more aggressive too, hes a deceptively tall player and we are using that more now, and taking players on is a world of a difference from last season
Kamara just needs to keep building his confidence and then he’s another player who can become a real asset
on loan at portsmouth when they were promoted winning 65-70% of games to coming to us for a first season in the champ, and a cold standoff walter and our season was a disaster, and then our two main wingers got season ending injuries every thing suddenly fell on his shoulders we'd be crazy to even consider selling him
Harry Vaughan was excellent yesterday and he was man marked by a brute who was twice his size. The first time Harry touched the ball this twat blatantly took his legs away. McCarthy was also up against a player who looked more like a RU prop forward. He had thighs thicker then McCarthys waist, but in the first 50/50 challenge McCarthy put him on his arse. I'd use both of those lads in the first team squad, certainly on the bench and maybe from the start against Wrexham.
I don't think he's been any more impressive than our youngsters. We've seen glimpses and that's about it. I do think Ndala's spell in Holland is a pretty major red flag, and that's in one of the least physical leagues in Europe. He played in 2nd tier and by all accounts didn't really do anything and got sent back early. As with all young players, he'll need time but we haven't been a club to give anyone time
N Next time you go to the flicks can you do a Barry Norman review please...just been with the family what a total crock of....
