Years of underperforming in qualifying rounds had hampered the Scottish coefficient . The 3rd n 4ths tend to do absolutely **** all .

Performing beyond that , in group stages , has generally been poor . Outlier is rangers in EL, performing well.

However , with Celtic and rangers generally being pish in CL , where the better coefficient bonus points are earned, has caused a fair bit of damage as well .

Every season , we need 4 Scottish clubs as a minimum in group stage football with at least 2 making it to the last 16 - ideally one in CL as min.

Hopefully Hibs can make it through to Conf. L and Celtic / Rangers end up in EL (can’t see them in CL) with Aberdeen in either EL or Conf. L with decent performances - a good few wins.

The phrase 'managed decline' used to crop up when referring to that period after the original, decent Sky deal expired and the SPL made an arse of trying to get better elsewhere; when we had £30m debt and Desmond decided the club should aim live within it's means: the era of MON's prophetic "welcome to life in the slow lane" comment. The club is bombproof, it could overcome any conceivable financial crisis simply by selling a few star players, without the need to trouble the £70, 80, 90, 100m or whatever it is that's idling away in the bank. So what we are experiencing is engineered decline: it's a deliberate strategy to make the football team weaker, less likely to succeed in winning cups and titles. Forget Europe, they are engineering a scenario where we are less likely to succeed in Scotland. Why would they do that? Why would a successful business deliberately sabotage it's own success?

Unless it was meant to be nothing more than a random insult, I've always believed Dave King's "house of cards" jibe was a reference to Celtic's success being the result of a lack of serious competition, that we couldn't fail in a one horse race and it was nothing to do with any business acumen in the Boardroom. King is a crook but he knows how to fight dirty: I think he saw at Celtic a collection of jammy bastards who just happened to be in situ at the time of the huns' demise; weak individually and collectively, hiding from their responsibility to challenge the steady stream of attacks on the club and fans by pretty much the rest of Scottish football and MSM as our success grew. Weak, jammy bastards who basked in the glory achieved and wealth generated by Celtic teams under managers who were all - every single one - undermined and hamstrung by those very same weak, jammy bastards in the boardroom.

sevco have been one of the worst run clubs in europe for the last decade, it was absolutely no achievement to win almost every trophy in that time, it was actually difficult to not win some of them

when you judge Celtic against other mid tier european clubs, its been 20 years of utter failure and wasted potential

9 in a row and quadruple treble against derek mcinnes aberdeen and pedros sevco while barely winning a game in europe

failing to do 10iar was practically impossible and they still achieved it

 

Supposedly if Sevco win the league, there’s a good chance they’ll get direct access to the CL
