This match marks a significant occasion, being the first time the Whites will play in front of their home crowd this summer, following their training camp in Germany. Under the guidance of Daniel Farke, Leeds initiated their pre-season schedule with a goalless draw against Manchester United in Stockholm. Their subsequent journey to Germany yielded victories behind closed doors: a 4-1 triumph over SC Verl and a 3-2 win against SC Paderborn. Now, the challenge escalates as they face a formidable Villarreal side, who concluded last season fifth in La Liga, earning a Champions League qualification spot. With the Premier League season just two weeks away, this fixture offers fans their crucial first glimpse of Daniel Farke’s evolving squad on home soil. Supporters will be eager to see new faces, including Perri, Bijol, Gudmundsson, Stach, Longstaff, and Nmecha, integrate and make an impact. As the penultimate friendly before their final warm-up against AC Milan in Dublin, the clash with Villarreal is a vital opportunity for Farke to fine-tune tactics and assess his team's readiness against top-tier opposition, setting the stage for the demanding season ahead.
Opened up the west stand away end lower tier so sounds like a full house East stand for me? Might have a couple in Peacock before KO
Even though we've got another friendly still think we will see near enough our strongest starting 11 today. Was hoping a striker might of poked his head in the doors this week but it's not to be.
I'll report back this evening with full scouting reports on each new signing. Im sure you are all looking forward to that.
Im hoping they play yeremy pino on the right against Gudmundsson. Pino is very good, creative, reasonably quick but a clever winger. A really good test for Gudmundsson. Another key match up is the right back Foyth (remember us nearly signing him) against Gnonto/Ramazani. They also have a good left back Sergi Cardona up against Dan James. Then we have Moleiro up against Bogle. Moleiro is class. Tough day for Bogle. Hopefully they all match up. Should give us a good insight.

Whites boss Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United team to face Villarreal in Saturday afternoon’s penultimate pre-season friendly at Elland Road for which a big new signing and star men are missing. New giant goalkeeper Lucas Perri’s switch to the Whites was announced after the club’s second of two behind-closed-doors friendlies in Germany last weekend as Leeds prepared to fly back to England. Perri, though, joined the club with a pre-existing niggle and is missing along with Jayden Bogle, Dan James and Jack Harrison who are all not involved in addition to Sebastiaan Bornauw who was known to be injured. Bogle, James and Harrison, though, have all featured heavily in the pre-season games so far. Isaac Schmidt, who had been recovering from a calf injury and did not feature in Germany, now makes his return and starts but Sebastiaan Bornauw is still missing as he continues his recovery from a quad injury. With Perri out, Karl Darlow starts in goal behind a back four of Schmidt at right back, GarbielGudmundsson at left back and Pascal Struijk partnering Joe Rodon at centre-back as giant new defender Jaka Bijol drops to the bench.
