I think Palhinha is a smart signing and fills a hole we have in that midfield as a dedicated, ball winning 6. There’ll be a lot written about how he isn’t that good on the ball and while he’s not a tempo setting, press resistant metronome in the Wharton mould, he does have a knack for pinging some of those long balls and cross field passes that Frank seems to like using to open up the game.

There will be matches where we likely don’t need him to start - we looked structurally quite solid even against the Arse with Bentancur and Sarr holding - but his skills and experience will be vital in games where we’re under the gun, and I think he’ll be a presence in both boxes at set pieces as well, which is important.

I was looking at his passing accuracy stats and they are surprisingly high for a player often dismissed as a lump who is better at kicking shins than the ball.

Fotball Skanalen claim that we and Man Utd are looking at AIK's 18 year old striker Kevin Filling

Who was born five days after Harry Redknapp took over

Has to be said he has played the grand total of three first team matches and scored 1 goal in his career, while Lucas Bergvall was already around 30 games at that age

The player probably wouldn't fancy the move, but that bid is just... wow.
Everton can't have expected that to be accepted, so what was the point?
Pissing off Southampton and their own fans, perhaps? Very odd.

Lilywhite Rose is claiming that we've agreed a season-long loan for Donley.
It's a currently unnamed Championship club.
The deal will be completed on return from our pre-season tour.

I wouldn't normally post **** from randoms on social media.
Lilywhite Rose seems fairly accurate for academy players, though.

Pedro Porro and Palhinha played together at Sporting for two years.
They both made the Team of the Year in 20/21 and won the league and league cup.
They finished 2nd the following year and retained the league cup.
Porro also kept his place in the Team of the Year.

There's an Atletico Madrid ITK claiming we're looking to hijack their attempt to sign Enzo Millot

Almost worth tossing aside, but Stuttgart Zeitung are also reporting about an unnamed club also coming in for Millot

Obviously nothing concrete, TBH it's barely sand, but worth mentioning in case it pops up in here over the weekend

The time has come where we have to say goodbye to Sonny. Knew the day would come, but didn’t think it’d be on my 40th birthday. Nice one, Sonny. <laugh>
    Still a legend, though. :emoticon-0152-heart<wah>

    Happy birthday mate!

Definitely hits hard though with Sonny. I was hoping to have one more year from him but completely respect his decision to go. Doing it off the back of the Europa triumph too makes it a great send off.

What a player. What a legend.

Sad, but inevitable day really. True legend for me but time to move on. Thanks for the ride though Sonny...

With Sonny going, who is going to piss over Peps chips now , memories of Sonny cutting in from the left and curling a shot into the top corner will linger for a long time

    thanks bud.

yeah, I totally get it, but it hits harder because the incomings have been minimal, too. Whilst it could be argued that he’s past his best, it’s a huge loss to the club in general.

    Happy birthday, Roo! <cheers>

A sad day for the club, however inevitable it was becoming. Sonny leaves as an absolute legend and I think the timing is perfect for all parties.

To Sonny I say 'Jagbyeol, auf wiedersehen and farewell' and thanks for the memories! <cheers><wah>

Sonny's departure is the leaving of a true club legend.

Our 4th highest goalscorer in the club's history, surpassed only by HK, Greavesie and Bobby Smith. Ahead of Big Chiv, Defoe, Robbie Keane, Hoddle....and our top European goalscorer.

    Thanks for all those memories...
