The rules changed a couple of years ago mate now making it almost impossible to stay up without some serious spending. Promoted teams can only lose 60% of what the other teams in the league can lose, which means there isn’t a level playing field any more. And why for the last 2 years the promoted teams all got relegated.

Aaronson is as weak as piss, I’ve rarely seen a player pushed off the ball so often and lose possession as much. That combination will get us crucified in the PL because opposition counter attacks when we’re committed to attack will result in goals more frequently than in the championship.
Harrison is possibly the only player who comes as close to frustrating me as much as Aaronson. He always looks like he could be close to being a very good player until his final ball/cross, which I seem to remember as being woeful. Hopefully he’ll move back to Everton.

Fair enough Doc but if the rules changed a couple of years ago they can change again re punishments for breaking them.

And as we know only too well there’s a separate ‘Book Of Seriously Harsh Punishments’ written entirely for Leeds United when it comes to rule-breaking.

I do think staying up is getting tougher every year, which is why we really need to cling on, but I'm not judging it by the last two years. I think we have had 6 very poor teams falling out of a poor Championship who were nowhere near good enough to compete.
Luton went straight down to League one, Sheffield United did a Leeds and capitulated at the end and Burnley basically had a great goalkeeper and a very good defence.
We smashed up Leicester and Ipswich in the year they went up and I think we're better now.
I think the nucleus of our promoted team would have had a chance of staying up, with the additions we have more chance.
I think the recruitment has been spot on. We won't get bullied like we have done in the past.
I think the 3 teams this year, given the money Sunderland are spending, have the best chance in 3 years of staying up.

I'm probably wrong and we'll all get humped but I still have hope.
    That's what kills you.

I'm happy with what we've done so far, unfortunately we've been burnt in the past by bates and Ortas incompetence which always leaves the thought in the back of my mind we will only sign a couple more bargain players and roll out the excuses. A top notch CF and LW then a few fillers and I'll be content the club has done its but and this is one tough league to mark your stamp

I think on top of your veiws there is also the fact that they all tried to compete with majority championship players. We can point to the fact that we have invested £70m (£80m with add ons) and Sunderland have done over £120m so both going for much better than championship quality, we als went for some big lads who are not going to get bullied.

My biggest hope is that Perri is as good as billed. I saw his highlights from last season and had mixed feelings. He made some great saves but palmed quite a few back into danger. The defenders were alive to clear it, I'm not sure that will be the case in the PL.

So what’s the big deal if we go down again. We’ll have another cracking season or two in championship instead of this nonsense of discussing relegation before even the first game of the season has been played

The "big deal" is that we'll have a s**t load of debt and have to rebuild the playing squad again.

Well all I can say is it’s a poor outlook for the sport when almost all discussions about upcoming season are about relegation. The pl really is fkd. Should we have an open top parade if we finish 17th maybe

    Why not ?

Finishing 17th earns us way more than winning the championship.

Eire mate you yourself were discussing relegation on here a couple of days ago <laugh>

    And I quote:

And in addition to that LOL are our new signings sellable if we’re relegated. Last time around regardless of clauses few of them raised any decent cash from transfer fees.

Agreed but the elephant in the room is are any of these players sellable if we go down. Im not so sure. Its a bit of a hopeless situation really in that scenario

Oh I know. Not saying I’m any different. Just feels so different to last summer. Suppose it’s the reality of the struggle facing us and the frustration of trying to get match tickets now our pl plastic fans are all back again

It could be seen the opposite way, watching us last season or the one before in the Championship when we had the divisions best team, (certainly a top 3 if anyone wished to argue that point) you were virtually attending and witnessing a win, we all expected to win every home game.

The forthcoming season you could be watching Liverpool or City stuffing us 0-4 and watching us completely outplayed. We won’t win as many home games this season as last so I don’t quite get why it’s viewed as plastic fans

A fan is a fan, if they buy a ticket, or a shirt, or a match day programme they’re putting money into the club
