With that level of interest he will likely go, but we should receive a massive fee if he does. got to be thinking Lavia sort of money or no deal
I thought this initially but then was struggling to think of a side who would want him outside of the promoted teams. He might prefer coming back to joining one of them given them all being northern. It won’t happen more due to his wages I’d imagine, he won’t be on less than £100k a week
Sometimes I wonder if there comes a point when happiness trumps money, even for footballers? I think we'd stretch to maybe 70k for JWP. If West Ham wanted him gone and were willing to subsidise his wage as long as we weren't in the PL then that might work.
Im sure it does for some, for someone who plays most of their career at a PL club it must just become numbers in their bank account after awhile. Bought everything major they wanted and sorted out friends/family if they wish, and still have plenty coming in every month from their wages to cover anything else they want really. But they are in a position to provide financial security for the next however many generations of their family in a 15 year career, so I don’t ever blame a player chasing the money if they can. Not to mention I’m sure a lot of them do charity stuff as well with their money.
I imagine business will get more frisk in the next couple of weeks. On top of agreeing the fee with the other club, you have to agree the contract with the player and then the other club will want to ensure that they have their own targets in place in terms of fees and contract, and that target's club will have their own targets and so on. So it's bit like a house buying chain - everything is hinging on the slow arse one that is four sales down the chain from you, totally unknown to anyone else waiting and has gone on holiday for a fortnight with their cats without signing the paperwork....
I have a feeling you are going to be disappointed on at least 2 out of those 3 but would be happy to be proven wrong
Yep, the spine when came up from league one was Davis, Fonte, schneiderlen and Lambert. What % of us would swap. I would say a modest 99% of us
Wrexham sign Kieffer Moore. Always worrying going up against a player like that. Sh*t against everyone else but will score against us. He's basically the Championship's Andy Carroll.
Was hoping we’d be the more settled of the two sides by the time we played, but alas, starting to look a little more daunting.
That's a fair comment. I would like to know how many games in that run (there were a few crap draws if I remember rightly and we didn't move up in the table) where he literally did not have a shot to save? I do remember important games where he let goals in that were ermmm.....disappointing, Ipswich comes to mind. For me, and I have stated this before, he does not fill me with any confidence. He has no 'presence' in goal, his positioning is odd and at times he appears weak. Also the stuff I saw that I thought he could have done better with had absolutely nothing to do with players playing around at the back which I keep seeing as an excuse for him. Not be a d**khead despite what any of you think, I am very happy to be proven wrong, very happy. I hope he keeps clean sheet after clean sheet and we win tough games because of him. I hope he makes Jack Stephens look good after he saves all the chances that come from his mistakes. At this present moment in time, what I have seen, what I know about goalkeeping (I used to be a very, very average local league footballer goalkeeper) I am not convinced. Sorry. I am not.
I’d really like us to go and get Viktor Johannsen from Stoke. Player of the season at Rotherham (as we well know), then moves to Stoke for under a million and is player of the season at Stoke.
I am friends with a semi professional GK and he too says the same about Bazunu. His favorite keeper for us from near memory (he is too young for Shilton, and Neimi was at the end when he started watching us) is Forster. HIs height and build he says make him good keeper although he acknowledges maybe he is too tall to be totally agile. Bazunu in his mind will only ever be mediocre at best.
I don't know why Saints fans on social media are acting surprised that the window is ****e. It was obvious from Jan that they weren't remotely interested in trying to stay in the PL. They knew they'd get top £££ from selling Dibling, Fernandes and Rambo in the summer, so weren't overly bothered about the loss of revenue. They're not interested in spending £££ on decent signings, the best we can hope for is some panic buys from the City youth team, in the hope one of them will be half decent. It's the Sport Republic way. With that in mind, what exactly was the point in Spors? I'm pretty sure we could have signed 2 nobodies from the German 2nd division without his input.
