Bit harsh singling out Hull as a terrible place with nothing going for it, sounds like any other big City in the U.K
hulls got amazing access to stunning countryside a short drive away its a short drive to decent sea side places a stunning marina incredible old town some amazing museums amazing cycling routes here there and everywhere it now has an amazing tech centre for it and the worst parts of hull are much much much nicer than the worst parts of london, birmingham, manchester, liverpool and so on and so on
I am on about the Hull people who choose to live outside of Hull then go on about it being great. If it was that great they would stay in the city. I am not on about people who move far away for work I am on about the ones who move out to the nearby villages.
thats just not true though i personally would like to never live in a city again, doesnt mean i dont think a citys good i just prefer quieter places to live
I find it a large Hull really. Obviously has more going on for its size but its size is also its problem for me. Friendly people and the Wednesday fans are actually good people who love their team and do know their limitations.
Back in the 1960s Sheffield was a great place for a night out. A manet for mods with the Mojo club and others. Better for a night out than Hull or Leeds, Leeds was not as good as Hull then. Don’t have a lot of experience of the place for a long time. but speaking to people of my age who have moved over here they say it is going downhill.
Do a poll on where people live. I wind my lifelong friends up by saying I live in the east riding and not Hull. I am in Kirk Ella and from NHE. It really annoys them even though they know im joking (or am I).
They are rebuilding again. The council is dog ****( locals view not mine). The centre is a bit all over. Just too much to regenerate at the same time. Tram system is great. Lot of smackheads but every centre has them. I Just loved my time in Hull with my mates ie City, nights out, family.
Regards Birmingham, Having lived in Sutton Coldfield for nearly 10 years, I can concur. The worst parts of Brum, are ****ing grim!
I love it here, been here over half my life since uni, love the city and the scenery on our doorstep with the peak District is amazing. I never really lived in hull so don't know it that well, but think both cities are quite different, Sheffield doesn't really have a city centre of note unlike Hull, I really recognise the massive change in the attractiveness of the city centre over the past 20 years, whereas I see shef as more of a smaller version of London, just a massive collections of self sufficient villages all bundled together Cityzens point on nightlife rings true, never seems to be anything like it was 20 years ago when I venture out, but reckon most of that is just being older now!
