I was hoping they would sell him. Meltdown. But say Liverpool did fork out £130/150m, they would have money to spend on several players, and maybe improving the squad. So, praying for a Carlsberg transfer window, they don't sell and end up with a player who isn't interested and fans who hate him.
The more I look at it, the more I think this Ramsdale transfer is a horrible, messy deal. Not that he's a bad goalie, personally I think he's decent but had a couple of bad years, but he's not necessarily a major upgrade on what they already have. Pope has been England's second or third choice 'keeper for a good few years now and been part of squads at 2 world cups. Ramsdale had been in England squads since 2021 and went to Euro 2020, Euro 2024 and the 2022 world cup, he's probably second choice now. But neither have looked like replacing Pickford as number one nor look like doing so in the near future. You'd pretty much say that they're about the same standard. I think Ramsdale is slightly better, but not enough to make a huge difference, or "move the needle". If both keepers want to be part of the England squad for the world cup, neither is going to want to be on the bench which would mean they'd miss out on the world cup, so it means almost certainly Pope will be moved on (I know the same could be said about Trafford, but he's much younger and has a higher ceiling than either of these, so could be seen as a big up grade). But to where? Most EPL clubs already have established keepers or if not, will be looking for someone of higher standard. Then you consider it's only a loan, not a permanent transfer, with an option to buy. That makes it looks like that they don't know what they want, that they are unsure about Ramsdale or Ramsdale is unsure and uncommitted to the mags. The whole optics of it looks ill thought out and messy. It risks making both players unhappy, the transfer itself looks desperate as well as being half hearted, with a lack of planning, structure or leadership and all for possibly very little gain.
Who knows for sure but at this point it looks like the Saudis have decided not to bother with them anymore. Just do the bare minimum for appearances sake.
I wonder if the SGB who made that video are reading the replies today, absolutely pissing myself All fine and dandy until the verse, 'We can buy your whole squad and your stadium too...' oh dear. They can't even buy their own stadium, given that the freeholder is The...Coucil Aged well this now they're having to sell to keep within FFP . Trippier is a low brow, classless runt. Yes he was a very good player 5 or 6 years ago, and still has some skills but for a professional player coming out with such bile is completely unprofessional. (no surprise there mind). It’s all very well for him to think these things, he may well have been given just cause at the SOL, but both sets of fans can dish it out. I’m sure he’s said this to please the supporters, but he’s let his club down. Reminds me of a certain Steven Taylor saying that none of our players would make their first team, before we beat them twice that season!
Probably the reason he never stays anywhere very long. Though with classless pricks like Jolinton and Guimaraes he's probably at home there. And does the prick not remember him taunting our fans with "Sunderland where are you" at a gig in Newcastle just after he signed for them? The classless knob jockey
When you're nearly 36, and you're a footballer, you have to get noticed somehow. Especially if you're a bit hard of thinking.
This made me giggle https://twitter.com/stewh_/status/1950897091678482476?s=46&t=26DLp2oXvFO7UDfe5HEPwQ
