It'd be interesting to see how he'd have been perceived if he took over from a popular/semi-popular owners. A lot of people liked him because he wasn't Ehab. I do think that any owner who puts the club in a precarious position is a prick and should be vilified. At the end of the day, it's our club and they can walk away but it's not like that when you're a fan.
If it's of his own making, as it blatantly is, then he shouldn't get a free pass. Not sure outright vilification does anyone any good though. Especially not the club. He'll likely be gone as soon as he gets an offer he can afford to accept. Fans boycotting and unrest - yet again just means we're less attractive to a buyer and will be harder to sell.
Very true. Non league loans aren’t always a great indicator of where someone is at mind. KLP was crap at Bradford park avenue and then broke through for us, obviously talent wise miles ahead but you never know
Also a good point. McCarthy looks the most ready to me, he’s played the most men’s football out them too which will be a factor.
Theres basically a cig paper of difference between top half National league and most of L2. TSF was way off it for the majority of that loan spell and the team absolutely tanked from 4th when he signed to missing out on playoffs completely. Not all down to him,.but he couldn't handle it physically.
I've seen the good and not so good of Lundstram, bit of a marmite figure come the end of his Rangers days. He's a decent player on his game and sounds as if he's bursting to get involved...I wish him well.
He's definitely the one I can see being part of the match day squad the most. Also conveniently, if he's viewed as a DM, then he's in our weakest position for depth. Be ideal to be the backup for Lundstram for the season.
Cripes, colour blind, appalling sense of smell, and arthritic, Steve Austin lives! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Baz is suggesting we're looking at further recruitment in that area. He's looked good, but he's a CB by trade and I suspect he'll be used sparingly for the time being.
Yes you're probably right. I seem to remember Lundstram is quite resilient though so should hopefully play most games. Be great to blood McCarthy with some cameos. I feel like if Crooks is going to play deeper, depth in the 10 position is what we need. Mad really as we've had loads of them for years and always played them wide!
I do think we need another DM. Not sure from where though as the free agent list is getting smaller. From what I remember of Lundstram at Sheffield United, he was more of a box-crashing number 8 rather than a number 6. He has the physicality and aggression to be a ball-winner but it’s whether he has that discipline to position himself in front of the back four and composure to receive the ball under pressure. A lot of the time, being a good number 6 is about always being in the right place at the right time, not just how hard you can tackle.
The Bionic Man, do I get bonus points for not using the obvious rhyme? The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
