I don’t see how we get anyone better than Mcburnie on a free transfer. If we had money to spend then there is maybe an argument but we’d end up with Tom Cannon etc who isn’t really that more prolific. Ideally frigan (maybe not spelt right) might have been a better option as he’s younger so has a potential sell on, but we can’t get him currently.
Not that long ago apparently but my question is what is he good at? I went through a bunch of old reddit threads and they all seem to slag him off Fábio Carvalho – 11 contributions in 20 games (1 every 1.82 games) Óscar Estupiñán – 15 contributions in 41 games (1 every 2.73 games) Josh Magennis – 31 contributions in 88 games (1 every 2.84 games) Liam Delap – 10 contributions in 31 games (1 every 3.1 games) Aaron Connolly – 8 contributions in 28 games (1 every 3.5 games)
He brings other players into the game. He leads the line well, good footballer on the whole. Dark arts too
I think we need Mcburnie more than he needs us, we are allegedly paying him well but our need is greater
In his most recent stint in English football, he got 26 goals and assists in 64 appearances, which is roughly 1 contribution every 2.5 games, or one every 225 minutes (one season in the Championship and one in the Premier League, I should add). Granted, Sheff U had better squads then than we do now, but that's still very good for a fee of £0 in our situation.
We clearly need a Mcburnie type forward -someone to hold the ball up, bring others into play - a target man. Joseph has done this reasonably well pre-season, but don't think we can afford to rely on him in that role all season.
Best rush out and re sign Magennis then. Carvallo and Delap weren't ours. And Estupinan scored most of his goals in a 7 game run and contributed little else. McBurnie will be the anchor point of the attack as well as contributing goals and assists, and by your own admission has a better championship scoring record than Delap.
According to one poster all that's relevant to judge him on is goals, and they're not too shabby either.
Everyone saying there’s no other decent options without a transfer fee. He’s available free and probably on a lower wage.
Nixon reporting Wrexham are about to sign Kieffer Moore. Might be freeing up a spot for McBurnie at Sheff
If Sheff Utd can't offer an acceptable contract then what makes you think we can? Plus 4 goals 3 assists in 39 last season is hardly an improvement on McBurnie.
He might want to be guaranteed games? We’ve supposedly agreed one in principle, also the blunts are skint
