I think it's mandated in the UK that telecoms providers have to offer a landline, so even where they don't lay copper at all any more such as in new build houses, they still provide a VoIP phone which uses the fibre connection, and I think those have to have a backup power supply so that they'd still work in a power cut like an old style landline would.

I can't justify buying a pass as I don't get to enough games to warrant the purchase.
Plus I don't want to get stuck next to a fattie or gobshite for a full year.
The prices for both south and north stands represent good value for money.
My first fixture will be Blackburn and I will be in the south stand.
The north stand appears to be full of adolescents who are intent on watching the visiting support rather than the match.

You are correct Jock and a ticket will be much cheaper than a wife.
Strangely enough I was chatting to Rangers fan today who lives in the south of England. Due to health reasons he does not go to Ibrox anymore but still retains his season ticket in the Copeland Road stand.

    It's destiny Vern,it's written in the stars...South stand,Blackburn game,sitting next to a fattie(that's me I'm talking about).

You're welcome to sit next to me as long as you're not eating that dog-**** for 90 minutes...

Logged into Tigers plus. and found a spot to get a season pass to watch the games on line and successfull purchesed one for 140 pounds. One thing worthy of note in my case they wanted to charge me intially in dollars since I live in the States and there was a 4% coversion charge so I clicked the pound button and let my bank do the conversion saving the fee. Also of note when you click the pound value your currency charge remains higlighted, just ignore it and procede.

Not sure that's true. BT are switching to digital home phone lines i.e. through your router, and they say it won't work in a power cut so anyone classed as vulnerable has to get in touch presumably to get a backup battery or some such.

Probably, but you have to ask for it, it's not automatic.

Fair enough, but either way, the UK looks after elderly ppl who don't want to or can't keep up with technology far better than most other countries. Here, if you're unable to use a mobile, or don't have family to help, you're left out on your own!
