We are hindered in the transfer market as our wage structure is significantly lower than the big 6 (note I added Aston Villa in there instead of Spurs as latter are lower payers than rest). Our annual player wage bill is £35million less than Aston Villa, £50million less than Liverpool, £75million less than Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd and a staggering £130million less than Man City. We seem to be attempting to retain a lower wage structure and that is obviously hindering us in signing and retaining top players.

We obviously can't afford to just increase across the board and I don't think it pays at this stage to just offer Isak loads more money or we could then end up with an unhappy squad. With PSR we need to box clever and look at ways we can gain advantages. In this case if Liverpool do come in with an offer I would insist that, while we are prepared to entertain a bid, the whole fee would need to be paid up front. This would give us a means of getting an advantage over other clubs in transfers (I suspect Man Utd wouldn't want to pay upfront for Sesko whereas we could) and Liverpool would need to borrow cash to do this, with associated costs, unless their parent company are willing to stump it up.

It is ridiculous that we supposedly have a PSR system to protect clubs long term viability but they are allowed to purchase players and pay in installments.
