Good Morning. It's Thursday 31st July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Newcastle Utd enter race to sign Muniz

Leeds United's summer transfer plans have hit another stumbling block as Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Rodrigo Muniz. The 24-year-old forward has been Leeds' primary target throughout the transfer window, but the sudden emergence of the Magpies could force the Whites to reassess their strategy.

Newcastle's strong position in the pursuit of Muniz is largely attributed to the anticipated departure of Alexander Isak, who is expected to complete a move to Liverpool. Such a high-profile transfer would provide Newcastle with significant funds and, crucially, a vacant spot in their frontline, making them formidable competitors for Muniz's signature.

This development marks a second significant blow for Leeds in quick succession. Just last week, the club missed out on the services of Brazilian winger Igor Paixao, who sealed a substantial £30 million move to Marseille. The double setback puts pressure on Adam Underwood and his team to act decisively in securing attacking reinforcements.

Whites switch attention to Dovbyk to spearhead attack

With Newcastle Utd set to scupper any chances Leeds have of securing Rodrigo Muniz' services, the Whites have quickly turned their attention to Roma centre forward Artem Dovbyk. who could be on the move after just one season in the Italian capital.

He is known for his strong physique, powerful shots, and ability to hold up the ball, making him a good outlet for his team in build-up play. He also demonstrates good movement, often making diagonal and curved runs.

He arrived at Roma from Girona last Summer, but hasn't convinced coach Gian Piero Gasperini that he is the right player to spearhead their forward line. In 53 appearances last season (over all competitions), the Ukrainian international netted 18 times and provided 3 assists.

The loan arrival of Evan Ferguson (who netted four on his Roma debut), may persuade the Giallorossi to cash in on the 28yo. They value him at around €40 million (£35.5m), a healthy profit on their initial €30.5 million (plus add-ons) fee. Leeds face competition from West Ham, Juventus and Besiktas.

Sunderland set to pip Leeds to Marc Guiu signing

Sunderland are reportedly in pole position to secure the loan signing of highly-rated Chelsea striker Marc Guiu. The Black Cats are understood to be leading the chase, ahead of Leeds and several prominent European clubs, making the Stadium of Light his most likely destination.

The 19-year-old Spanish forward is said to be "hours away from deciding his future," building significant anticipation around his next move. Guiu arrives with a burgeoning reputation, particularly noted for his strong physical presence, clinical finishing ability, and significant potential as a true penalty-area predator.

This skillset suggests he could provide the powerful attacking presence that Leeds so desperately need, especially when you consider Joffy, Bamford and Joseph do not feature in Daniel Farke's plans next season.

    Morning all,

Worryingly we still don’t seem to have a set-piece specialist in the squad. So expect more of the same. Easily defended floaty corners and powderpuff free kicks.

    Morning all

I strongly dislike the over used word unprecedented, equally I’m bored of the media constantly saying Leeds were pipped or beaten to a signature.

We were always second favourites to Marseille, the two Sunderland signed we’d refused to go higher, Muniz we’ve refused to meet the inflated price, Guiu we’d enquired but no reason to assume or suggest we’ve done anything other than think “bollocks to that deal”.

We might have enquired to buy, they said no but you can loan, we said no thanks.

If you believe the last 7 days click bait we’re signing 2 right backs, 1 left back, 1 central midfielder, 2 attacking midfielders, 4 wingers and 5 strikers

They’re enquiries, when they go somewhere else we’re not beaten to the signature.

Saying all that you do feel the next serious approach is in the pipeline.

Picking up on the slow down and Forzas comment, I think losing out on Paxaio has slowed proceedings, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he was set to take set pieces.

You feel it will be an important part of our play with the size we’ve acquired, maybe we’ve had to prioritise or focus a shift towards someone who is better equipped to take them

Morning all. I couldn't care less who we nearly signed, linked to or were supposed to sign. Only thing that counts is the shape of our squad on October 1st and whether it is premiership quality. Hopefully when we do sign a couple of loanees in last few days of the window, they'll be of Soloman standard

Morning from Stockton-on-Tees (I'm up here for work)

Couldn't give 2 hoots about Muniz don't want to pay £40 million let Fulham rip off Newcastle.

On additional note I've just met ex Forest and Boro player Mark Proctor and the man is sound.

We've not been in for Guiu. Nor will we likely to be. Clickbait ****e.

Other than that, it's all quiet which usually means something is happening behind the scenes.

I hope we bring in two good loanees. We tend to ignore the loan markets

I guess the quandry is, the higher the level of player we go for, the more competition there will be. As a newly promoted club that can't offer European football or top dollar wages we are lower down the pecking order and, as fans, we have to hope the club holding their nerve is smart or that Plan B or C are still big upgrades on what we have. Liverpool for example going in so hard this summer causes a knock on effect of clubs like Newcastle being active for players they maybe wouldn't have been.

You have probably guessed that I am not the biggest fan of all the Clickbait nonsense but I read the other day Fab earns around £4 Million Per Year with his "journalism". There is huge incentives for people to write stories whether they are factual, guessed or even made up. It helps me not get too upset knowing we haven't actually "missed out" or been "pipped to the signing of" etc when half of it is bollocks and it serves the purpose of keeping the entertainment industry going :emoticon-0148-yes:

I doubt we only ever had a very slight chance of Paixao, I think he and his agent probably used us to force Marseilles hand

Totally agree with this. Think both player/agent and Feyenord used us to get the fee they wanted <ok>

Despite his decent work so far, a lesson learned you would hope for Adam Underwood

Means either Harrison or Ramazani will be gone if El Khannouss comes in.
