Good Morning. It's Wednesday 30th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Lines jammed - thousands miss out on season opener

Thousands of Leeds fans were left bitterly disappointed after missing out on tickets for the season opener against Everton. With the highly anticipated fixture less than three weeks away, fans were left feeling frustrated and exploited by a system that failed to cope with overwhelming demand.

An estimated 30,000 hopefuls flooded the club’s official channels, leading to jammed phone lines and crippled web browsers. Many fans reported spending hours in virtual queues, only to be met with a "sold out" message, leaving them empty-handed and deeply disappointed.

Adding insult to injury, the frustration quickly turned to fury as hundreds of tickets surfaced on unauthorised touting websites within hours. The prices were astronomically inflated, averaging out at over £250 per seat. For a loyal family of four, the dream of watching their beloved team’s return now comes with an outrageous price tag exceeding £1,000.

This has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many Leeds fans, who feel their passion is being monetised by unscrupulous resellers. For many, the joy of a new season has been overshadowed by the stark reality of modern football's ticket market.

Are expectations higher after Paixao near miss

Leeds United’s narrow miss on Brazilian sensation Igor Paixao, may have inadvertently heightened the expectations of many Whites fans. For ten long days, Leeds fought toe to toe with European giants Marseille over Paixao's signature. While a player of Manor Solomon’s calibre would have satisfied the fanbase weeks ago, the bar now appears significantly higher.

The club’s primary focus remains on strengthening the left-wing and centre-forward positions. Despite a relatively conservative summer spend of £73 million on seven new arrivals, Leeds possess ample funds for marquee signings. However, the Elland Road hierarchy has consistently stressed they will only act if the right players become available, indicating a cautious yet ambitious approach.

With Joel Piroe's pre-season form looking promising, and existing depth on the left flank in the form of Ramazani, Harrison and Gnonto, any new recruit must be of a notably higher calibre than the current talent.

Whites eye Leicester's James Justin to bolster defensive ranks

Leeds United are stepping up their search for defensive reinforcements, following the departures of Junior Firpo, Max Wober and (expected exit of) Isaac Schmidt, with Leicester City’s James Justin emerging as a prime target.

Justin, 27, brings a wealth of experience from campaigns in both the Premier League and the Championship, offering the proven quality and reliability Leeds desperately needs to strengthen its squad.
What makes Justin particularly appealing to the Elland Road hierarchy is his exceptional versatility.

Equally adept on the right or left flank, he would provide high-caliber competition and vital depth for existing players like Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson. This tactical flexibility has not gone unnoticed by the fanbase, with many supporters already endorsing the potential move on social media.

Securing a player of Justin's calibre—a defender in his prime and well-versed in the rigours of English football—would represent a smart, strategic addition that directly addresses a key area of need for the upcoming season.

Managed to get 1 ticket in the kop for Everton. Nearly 50 quid.

Ballot is today. I'll try again for the rest of the group.

Morning all. Tickets were very very difficult last season too. Elland Road simply can't cope and situation can't improve until extensions are complete. Fans can complain all they like

    Afternoon all

I am not sure our expectations are higher, Paixao, Longstaff and Stach were the kind of signings I was hoping for but being realistic that we were not going to get 4-5 of that quality. I am wondering if things have slowed due to Paixao being part of a jigsaw that needs slightly altering, maybe the alternative to him wouldn't work so well with another signing we were looking at for a different position

This transfer window is a rollercoaster, just when you think it is getting bad we bring in Stach and Perri and are linked with Paixao and a £40m striker, a day later we lose Paixao and everything goes quiet with very little in the pipeline

I'd love for a new signing to be announced as having their medical and we think wow where did that one come from

As has been said on here and on yesterday’s thread there are now just clickbait sites. Even the YEP have gone silent since Marseille won the race simply because they were trying to claim they knew what was happening. The truth is there are very few people who are in the know so be as well just waiting for one of them to release real news.

truth is not many of us had heard of Piaxoa last month and now we all know his inside leg measurement. A pretty good way of getting some insight is to follow Locky on YouTube, hes a Leeds fan but he actually does football data analysis for a living so does a lot on players in certain positions, tactics and all manor of stuff. Yesterday he posted this which I found very interesting as it was a breakdown of the best alternatives available to Piaxoa.

Joe Blackburn and Ger (The View) are reliable - and won't make things up to feed the fans

Looks like Sunderland are chasing Marc Guiu from Chelsea on loan and Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea will loan him out but no buy option, all his wages to be paid then send him back next June. 3 prem clubs trying including Sunderland?

Apparently he turned down Barcelona's offer of £50k a week and went to Chelsea as they were offering near to £100k a week

Wherever he goes, that isn't a sit on the bench wage, hopefully nobody will touch him and give Chelsea a headache

Looks like Newcastle are chasing Rodrigo Muniz and may have offered £40m initial offer, but it’s also been said Leeds are talking to Roma about Dobvyk. The last manager bought him to cover for the sale of Tammy Abrams, he did well scoring a dozen goals and looks a powerful unit with pace and ball control. Gasperini has just taken over and he works to a set formula and it seems Dobvyk and other are being replaced. Young Ferguson has just gone there as an example?

Muniz is well overpriced. Would take him but that’s a lot of money. Oh, and at the moment we can’t compete with Newcastle.

The Artem Dobvyk tale is growing as now been reported Leeds have opened discussions with Roma for Dobvyk who played 35 times last season in league, Europe and cup scoring 17 and 5 assists. However WHU are also chasing him now. In fairness as LoL says Muniz will end up at around £45m for a player who would be a gamble, Dobvyk at around £30m for a proven scorer in Seria A isnt so much of a gamble. But we shall wait and see if true

Oh and one to wind a few up on here Cody Drameh to Crystal Palace to cover right and left backs

My wife is Ukrainian even took her to a couple of games to see if I can get her onside. she thinks I'm mad at the passion I have for Leeds "A Football team" soon as I said we could be possibly signing a Ukrainian her ears cocked up. him signing would be a good move for my household as I think she would pay more attention and the hoover would not be going on inbetween games lol. sign him up!!!!!!!!

On a personal note I’m chuffed to bits that there are now stories emerging that Leeds are joining a group of prem teams who are chasing Arnaud Kalimuendo. I have liked this player ever since he was a kid at PSG and Bielsa wanted him but PSG refused to let him go. He’s now at Rennes and scoring goals and 3rd leading scorer behind Mason Greenwood in 2nd. If true we would still have to go up against at least 3 prem clubs
