I've said this before but most of our batters score too slowly. We should be well past 300 after 87 overs. And Organ isn't good enough, either with the bat or the ball.
Apart from the 150’s from Rew and Abell, the highest Somerset scorer was Craig Overton on 31. They do my head in sometimes
We scored quickly against the new ball as well and then it got tougher when it went soft. But I know what you're saying, our batting isn't strong enough as it stands.
Worcs had no issues hitting the softer kookaburra ball at the Bowl to all parts of the ground. I don't understand why our batters continue to soak up so many dot balls. Even Varma, who's been excellent, was guilty of that today. Even at amateur level rotating the strike is a given. And as for Organ, he had more blocks than bloody Legoland. I could probably have done what he did - just stand there and put bat in front of ball.
Today really has shown how appalling our batting is - both in terms of volume of runs and strike rate. To only get one batting point - despite being 144-0, facing the kookaburra bowl, and an opponent with the least amount of bowling points in the division - is laughable. Thankfully the women were in action in the 50 over comp today. Far more enjoyable to follow them than our men in red ball cricket this season. I just want our red ball season over with now.
Another day of getting dominated by the worst team in the division. Several people need firing for this utter clusterfuck of a season.
Durham-Surrey could potentially have an exciting finish (a rare thing with this stupid ball). At the moment, Durham are still a long way from setting Surrey something testing to chase. But they might yet do so. Given where they are in the league, the difference between 3 points and 19 points is huge for Durham.
