Trusting a plan from SR? Bold move. Honestly this window is going exactly the way expected, offload anyone that had a half decent season last year and keep all the crap, the only move on I'm happy about is Bednerak as it was more than time for him to leave. And the players we buy are a very young risk. But yeah for a window that should been thought about and planned since January, its going exactly how I'd expect an SR window to go.
Perhaps you prefer a Sheffield Wednesday or a Hull City approach to the window? SR bash all you want but it could be much much worse.
I'm not entirely sure what SR have done wrong this window TBH. Spors is in charge of transfers coming in and SR are gradually getting the squad size down and the money we've made so far is pretty good TBH.
It is frustrating at this stage for sure. But unless you're willing to lose money on sales and overpay on the players you want, nothing much ever tends to get done until the back end of the window. I will be more then happy to slam SR if we have a **** window, but got to wait until it's over before we can really judge it because it doesn't matter how good your intentions are to get everything done early, there are a lot of moving parts all out of our control with transfer business. It's the same for the vast majority of clubs.
Agree. There’s still just over 4 weeks until the window closes. I believe the squad will look a lot different come 1st September. We’ve got good money so far for the players we have sold / Loaned. None of the relegated teams have done much business yet and will wait to see who leaves I guess. We had to reduce the squad size, which is happening, and we should still have a strong enough squad to deal with Augusts fixtures.
The money we make on sales/loans is totally irrelevant if we're not spending it on making Southampton FC better.
I might have some of these fees wrong but once Edozie goes through I make it this so far for current outgoings? Onuachu - £6mill Bednarek - £6mill Edozie - £8mill Sulemana - £18mill Amo-Ameyaw - £7mill Ramsdale - £4mill + £20mill (if signs permanently) £49million (£69mill if Rambo permanent end of season)
Seems about right from the fees reported. We’ve spent about £13m I think on Quarshie and Downs, maybe a bit less but I seem to remember the fees being quoted as £5m and £8m respectively. Obviously should be well in profit from player ins/outs this summer. Might mean we can sign a couple more youngsters for Goztepe or Valenciennes as well as a bonus
Lookman sounds like he’s off to Inter. Was reported earlier in the window that Juric wanted Dibling at Atalanta and could well have the money with the Lookman sale. He didn’t feature as heavily under Juric but whether that was because Juric didn’t rate him, didn’t suit the system or Dibling had given up and was coasting til the summer who knows.
Haha you’re not wrong about the sister club superstar signings Considering we earned £100million from our final position in Premier League last season & we’re probably going to sell Bella-Kotchap, Fraser, Brereton-Diaz & Aribo for roughly £20million total too, along with parachutes - there really should be no excuses on not buying some quality players this summer!
Oh I wasn’t joking. I’m fine with signing players for them, provided they are like the ones we’ve done so far (young, relatively cheap and with potential to either sell for profit or play for us). We will sign some players, hard to sign real quality whilst in the Championship. Should be able to build a squad capable of promotion though for less than what we’ve already received with the squad we currently have.
I may be wrong but I don’t seem Dibling going abroad at this stage. I would see clubs such as Brighton, Palace, Spurs and WHam as more of a risk
Yeah. How many players have we actually signed for the “group”? I can think of 4 off the top of my head. Lis, Matsuki, Juan and Traore. At a combined cost of probably like £1-2m. We’ve sold Lis for a couple of hundred grand but the rest are still here and may do something/be sold to recoup money anyway. If we were spending 10s of millions doing it then obviously there is an issue with it but a couple of million for a club our size is not going to make much difference and you could strike gold with a player or two, like Brighton have done
