It's got to the point where us fans get excited at Madsen playing a 5 yard pass, although he got confused against the Dutch team and put them clean through. I don't know what's going on with Celar or Varane, the latter is yet to feature pre season at all yet but the squad is still short of a left back, advanced central midfielder and striker (imo). Larkeche isn't too dissimilar to Smyth in that he tries hard but is just a headless chicken.
As much as I like Smyth for his work rate, pace and willingness to defend, there is unfortunately too little end product in terms of either assists or goals. It looks like Poku might provide more of that end product.
It seems Eze's sell-on is 15% of their profit which, if his £68 million release clause is triggered, would give Palace a £48 million profit. That would give us £7.2 million. This is according to The Guardian...
Have to say he’s a bargain at that price but he’s the kind of player you build a team around, would have thought any move would have happened by now to take advantage of pre season. Still can’t see him leaving London, and probably staying at Palace.
Palace are determined to keep him and making certain demands on upfront payments. As you say, if there was a serious bidder they'd have snapped him up by now. He's played in pre season and they're in Australia at the moment so doesn't look likely...
Think The Graudian is mistaken, when we sold him to Palace it was reported as 20% of sell on fee not the profit..... That was partly the reason for accepting a lower fee from Palace at the time.....
Wouldn't be the first time The Grauniad got something wrong. Mind you if he stays put we'll get feck all...
This is being more widely reported now as 15% of the profit... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-transfer-eberechi-eze-palace-35647976
I think that’s a bit harsh to be honest, he might not be world class, but he’s scored some decent goals and always puts a shift in
Smyth will still have a significant role and so he should. The AFCON period could dent our squad significantly. Wrexham signing Kieffer Moore and Conor Coady it looks like. I’d have loved Moore here but I dread to think what wage he’s on to go there.
Apparently Ipswich splashing out 20 mill on the boro u21 midfielder which I find a bit mental, I get they’ll have the windfall payments but I’d have thought they’d use that more to adjust with the higher wages and 20 mill on one player in the championship seems crazy b
Thanks to their celebrity owners the sponsorship deals that Wrexham get are phenomenal. They’ll be fine for FFP. Birmingham City less so I’d guess. All we need is for Taylor Swift to invest in us and we’ll be laughing.
I don't know why that opinion would be harsh. Smyth always puts a shift in but his end product is usually non existent. He scored 1 goal and got 3 or 4 assists last season. If he wasn't fast, he most likely wouldn't be a footballer. We need improvements on what we have had in the past, otherwise it's just more of the same. A bench player at best
It sounds harsh cos he seems a pleasant lad and always tries but you objective data is not great. Those stats, however, don't reflect gaps that may open up because he's running at the defence.
