To be honest if it wasn't for Perch and Gosling, the game could have been very different. They were to blame for all 4 goals for me. Perch cannot defend at this level. He got made to look like a schoolboy on the set plays, his man lost him every time. I was embarassed for him when after getting lost for one of the goals he tried to blame the man in front of him for not winning the header. Gosling I'm a little more forgiving because he has not played a lot of football. But being honest he does look a bit under PL level generally. Goes missing for long periods and at times I was wondering who was partnering Cabaye.

Pardew will play Obertan and Perch because it's his only flaw.

I understand the Obertan thing to a point. Pace is a large part of our tactical set up now. We are set up to spring quickly from our (normally) solid defence. Obertan plays a part in this as he can travel very long distances in very short time periods. My problem is the lack of a football brain. I'd rather sacrifice a little pace and combine it with a brain. How the **** the kid doesn't have a brain with a head like that is beyond me, but that is for another thread. Surely Ben Arfa could have right hand side on Saturday. Pace and a footballing brain. The other thing is I think Norwich are a good side who work hard but they don't have many players you'd be rushing to take if they went down. Surely that is exactly the sort of game to play Benni, when he might be a little too clever and a cut above for the oppo?

You know who I feel sorry for? Kadar. Its moreorless been commented that the current regime do not fancy him at all. But he must be wondering if has aids when Pardew is playing Perch in front of him!

If we can get one of Tiote or Colo back, we should get a draw. If we have both, a win. If wehave niether, another diappointing afternoon

I'm braced for another patched-up team at the weekend. Don't think any of them are going to make it not even Coloccini. If we lose Santon too then quite simply WTF. No Gosling now so who's going midfield? I'd like to see Abeid or Vuckic get their chance. Vuckic at the head of a diamond or Abeid next to Cabaye.

EDIT: But it'll be Smith. Perch and Smith in the team we will lose simple as.

Losing Gosling is no bad thing for me! He was terrible on Saturday. But to be fair to the lad he hasn't played a lot of football. My problem with him is he just disappears for large patches of the game. he was the same at Everton. He's a goal threat for sure as he follows everything in like an old school poacher, and makes the odd cracking run. But generally he is not involved enough to play as a centre mid in PL football. I'd go for Abeid. Vuckic probably a tad attacking unless you drop Cabaye to the base of a diamond and then you may lose his guile.

As you say though, it'll be Smithy!

Kadar went out on loan to Huddersfield (League One!) last season and got injured again.
I don't think he has any chance of fulfilling his former potential I'm afraid.

You would think he has been taking tips from Nolan <whistle>

A little but not quite as good a footballer technical wise, and certainly not as much of a natural leader. But yes I can see the similarity when we played Nolan in centre mid. I personally think Nolan is more of a 2nd striker.

Aye but perch ahead of him. I defy you to tell me he can be any worse! Perch is league one at a push. But probably Blue Square.

I'd love Ben Arfa to play on one of th sides, and i hate knowing that Pardew will NEVER play him there. I cant understand why though... Obertan seems to have one decent game every 6-8 matches. I try defending him but its just so annoying watching him speed away from our defence up towards the opponents final third and then either blaze one over or give away possesion. He just never looks up to see whos around him, never has that killer pass and for the majority of the time looks like he lacks the confidence to take any defender on. He has the skill set to be able to do it, we've all see little touches of it here and there, but i dont think hes ever going to be that sort of player :/

Shola's looked decent the past two games which is strange too.

I see the Gosling-Nolan similarities, he could be his natural replacement if he sharpens up his finishing and all round CM play. If he's to play now I think he'd be better behind the striker with 2 CMs behind him, like Nolan was.

Perch was a first-team regular at Forest, and last time I checked they were a certain bet to pip us to the Championship title <whistle>

Seriously though, we need better CB options as a matter of urgency. Chucking Kadar in is not going to help matters.

    Krul
    Santon Simpson Colo Ferguson
    Sammy Abeid Cabaye Jonas
    HBA
    Ba

Wouldn't mind this, should Tiote, Williamson not be fit.

Just a bit of pace in the side :p

My mate's a Forest fan and doesn't rate him, says he wouldn't have him in their team now, and their team's poor.

I'm slightly sick of Sammy playing so much. I know we all love him and he's full of potential but he's far to raw to be playing games this regularly, particularly in a 4 man midfield. A loan is needed, Ferguson's a better winger IMO.

I'd rather Raylor ahead of both for now. Sammy to go on loan, Obertan to get some common sense drilled into him.
