Yeah, but that abundance of midfielders include Aaronson, Gruev, Gyabi and Greenwood. While out 1st XI looks good, the back ups represent a sharp decline in quality.
Tbh I'd prefer a left sided winger like Tyler Dibling at Southampton, to give more balance to the squad.
Serious question on Solomon. He was pretty unplayable last season and did a great job. However Would Solomon get into the Roma team or Marseille team ahead of Piaxoa. I dont think so. My opinion again. Now let’s say Spurs decide Solomon isn’t good enough to get into a poor Spurs side do we think that’s good enough for us? He like Piaxoa chose another club over Leeds. In fairness Solomon did a great job at Fulham out on loan, whereas Dan James didn’t? On top of that we know Solomon can play Farkeball
I'm feel gutted but shouldn't as I've never heard of him. I bet quite a few of you never did either. Plenty more fish in the sea. his heart wasn't into our vision and club he could well of been another sinisterra when someone else came a knocking he would jump the ship. Another name will soon be upon us to get excited all over again
Solomon is safe, 6/10 7/10 odd 8/10 he isn’t a game changer, Paxaio can play left or right and score a goal from nothing, he was an extremely exciting gamble. He’d have probably sent us mad with a few 4/10 but we’d forgive him next week with a 10/10 We have Longstaff, Stach, Ampadu, Gruev and Tanaka who are all safe, we need some exciting gambles. I’d be content signing Solomon but alongside the Fulham guy and James/Gnonto right, I’m fearful if we’ll score enough goals
Yeah at the start of the window I was hoping for Solomon but obviously got spoilt when we heard about trying for a marquee player. Hopefully we snap up a very good striker and a winger. Don’t think we are looking for a ten
I'd put the Championship as a harder league than the Dutch league. Solomon put up incredible figures of his own last season despite having a slow start due to his injury problems the season before. Paixão could have been a Raphinha but he could also have been a Sinisterra. It was a gamble. Solomon isnt a gamble. Everyone knows he can cut it in the PL.
Mate, we both thought Sinisterra was the real deal. It just looks like sour grapes putting him down after an incredible 30 games and 3 goals for Bournemouth in two years since he left. That would be nearly as bad as dissing Tyler Adams 30 games and no goals in the same period
Like it or not we won’t be an attractive prospect for top players who will have a choice of clubs. Nobody fancies a relegation battle. So to attract top players you’ll then have to give them the hated get out clauses if relegated. Which we supposedly don’t want to do
If they’ll agree to that yes but sadly the ball is completely in the players court. I suspect the players agents have a bigger input into contracts and the fine points than the buying club
And in addition to that LOL are our new signings sellable if we’re relegated. Last time around regardless of clauses few of them raised any decent cash from transfer fees. All sorts of free loan deals to cover wages. No idea what our new lads are like but doesn’t seem to have been many clubs competing for their signatures. Hopefully the gems are yet to come if we can convince them
For the last two seasons, three up and same three back down, PL teams have settled squads. Let’s take Anton Stach - How good is he compared to any central midfielder in any of the bottom eight teams. The answer is we don’t know, we hope he is better, we hope he is at least equal, we know he’s better than much of our current midfield so he’s worth splashing around £20m on Everton, West Ham and a few others are not going to take that gamble, what’s the point in getting a player equal to what they have already. Lukas Nmecha on a free, a huge gamble to soak up a wage for a lower half PL team, who will be aiming for a safer higher profile more proven option. For us, it’s a no brainer, we might be replacing Bamford on the treatment table or we might be signing someone who is capable of 18 goals in 37 games if he stays fit. He is 26 years old with 7 full German caps. We’ve shopped wisely so far, hopefully we have a couple of nice surprises still to arrive
Agreed but the elephant in the room is are any of these players sellable if we go down. Im not so sure. Its a bit of a hopeless situation really in that scenario
Ipswich purchased a load of Championship players with an “in case we go down” attitude and guess what happened. Great they sell Delap for £35m but they can’t sign another striker in that bracket as there are none willing to play Championship football Ipswich philosophy is to go straight back up, then what, rinse and repeat and go back down. I’m happy with our approach so far, we’ve not signed Vardy, Wilson and a few other past sell by date players. The question should not be are they sellable, it should be are the contracts sensible that we can keep those we want to challenge for a return
I’ve no idea what type of wages the new signings are on but maybe if the worst happens this season we might be able to keep the bulk of the squad together to try to bounce straight back. Let’s hope that we don’t have to find out either way and we’re nice and safe by Christmas
