Yeah, it's this ****e that winds me up about it all. It's almost a different sport. However, i enjoyed the final and well done to the girls.
Well done to the ladies, what gets me though, is there will be stories coming out that women should get as much as men, I looked at the attendance figures for the two Manchester clubs, they don't average 5,000 Then there will be another load of garbage saying how the women can do it so why can't the men, headlines like the Bobby Moore one really doesn't help it just creates silly arguments
Its genuinely really good to see the England women's team continue to be successful. It wasn't a bad game either tbf. It should be reported separately to the men's game though. There's levels to the game and it's just not comparable at the moment. On the pay thing, it's really simple. If a tv company offers multiple billions for the rights to show the games then they deserve all the money they can get. There's a reason the tv companies dont offer big bucks to the women's game.
It’s total dross no matter how hard sky try to shove it down peoples throats. No point in trying to compare it to anything, men’s or kids football
The Spanish were pretty good… the English, well they tried hard and rode their luck. I don’t mind watching it - but it is literally a different game - factor in size and athletic difference between genders and the pitch is proportionally too big and the goals too big too relative to the men’s game. Which makes the penalties fiasco even more painful. Hey it all adds to the drama. I do think it’s great they’re building up the women’s game. But It’s still in its infancy and the player pool is still pretty small, so whilst I absolutely don’t begrudge them their time in the sun, I’d hope the Bobby Moore headline is meant as tongue in cheek clickbait for Joey Barton. God help us if they’re serious.
I know it's only Celtic or ROI standard football, but some people watch them and enjoy it.Lets face it,it's harder to win than the 2 team Scottish Premier league.
ffs celtic and the ROI are ladies, well they are fookin ugly ladies. They should play in ladies leagues then instead of making fools of themselves playing against men.
Does answer a lot of questions though, always thought that mcLean was a woman or a transvestite, talks a load of ****e and never stops moaning was the clues.
Of course dear....when you stop giving free tickets away, stop getting beat by u15 boys teams,40 year old geezers etc...same with women's tennis 3 sets instead of 5, a Wimbledon final that lasted less than an hour and was 6-0,6-0 the lass in question should have given half her 'prize' money back! Embarrassing frankly
Surely that headline is a joke. Women don’t even watch women’s football. The best comedy of the modern era was that almost scoreless penalty shootout and commentators describing it as thrilling
Same prize money, I’m fine with that, it’s different to same wages. Wages are based on ability, we have players on less than 1k a week and on over £300k I’d say if a female footballer was to go up against a male, they’d struggle against conference players so pay them to their ability.
This morning one of our national radio sports programs has one of its top three headlines as Shamrock rovers ladies will have a new manager in place for tonights game. I'll guarantee there aren't 100 people in Ireland interested. Time these channels put the thing into perspective
prize money should be proportional to viewing figures/revenue etc and set by the tournament organisers. They aren’t going to voluntarily run them at a loss. It’s not like tennis where the women’s game has been played alongside the men’s, at the same events, and people watch both with broadly equal interest… well allegedly. These sports have no wages, just prize money. If they want to syphon money from the profitability of the men’s game in various ways to support the growth of the women’s game, particularly, at grass roots level I think that’s great. It already happens... league's, clubs, government - they all fund women's football. Whether they do it sufficiently or it's lip service i wouldn't know. But supporting grass roots and development of the game is more important than subsidising ‘prize money’ to players from tournaments. Undoubtedly the success of the Lioness's will help create demand among the kids - and future generations will undoubtedly benefit from the work done by current ones. The players when we were lads didn't make much relatively, but helped create world wide interest in the sport that media companies capitalised on and today's players benefit from financially. That's how it goes. Wages are set by the employing club according to supply and demand and budget, most of the income is tv revenue which is determined by supply and demand. Gender shouldn’t come in to it. I don’t see how it can. Unless they can mastermind worldwide salary caps for every league in the world. I understand they wish/need to make it a sustainable profession but you do that through creating demand for the product. Falsely paying people above their market value would actually be positive discrimination. We have world champions of different genders in loads of different sports. Many of whom get paid peanuts... because their sports don't have the appeal of men's football. Do they all get to demand the same pay as men's footballers? It’s not like an office job where clearly there should be equality.
