If I recall correctly, Bazunu was one of Portsmouth's best players when they were in League One and the then manager was fulsome in his praise. I thought he was a good signing for Saints atthe time. I have to say that I cannot see what all the fuss was about bit I do feel that the coaching at Southampton has continually failed to bring talent in. Sulemana was the prime example for me but the same can be said of Bazunu. I think he needs to move on and have a fresh start. It is disappointing that the Rangers move did not have legs. I think we need to cash in before he has no value.
I think you are correct. Any player in any league, or standard, can have a duff patch, or even not the best season, but to go from International footballer who is highly regarded to 'What?' is clearly not the player just being lucky for his entire career and getting found out. Something went wrong here, not entirely his fault I'm sure - a move on might do him the world of good. Who knows? Maybe Still and his pals will turn him around - I truly hope so. He's only a young lad playing the game he probably dreamed about his whole life, I hope he has a career he can reflect on in old age. I'm really not a nasty person.
Burnley losing Brownhill on a free transfer, on top of Trafford seemingly heading to Man City, must be a blow to them. It feels like they're in a worse position with their squad than last season. They've spent a fair bit on signing their loanees permanently, but I think new faces are thin on the ground. Walker's legs have gone and I dread to think what they're paying him in wages.
Haven't seen any rumours yet. Just that his contract has expired and he rejected a new deal. Is he looking for bigger than Burnley? Or does he just want a fresh start? No idea.
Good move for him, 254 appearances for Saints and was decent in the main I would say. Right time for him to move on and getting a CL team is a bonus for him
Amazing how so many of our exes are somehow falling upwards in their career In terms of Bednarek, very much the right time to part ways i think. He was a twat for the whole Villa saga, refusing to play in the cup etc, i really didnt like him much ... but to give him credit, he came back, knuckled down, put in some solid performances and now leaves with my good wishes. He is a good case of how anyone can come back and win fans back onside, with the right attitude and application.
TBH the transfer fee probably won't be a huge amount so even if we do I don't think we'll get much anyway.
Intriguing that it seems like we are now the only club linked. Usually the rumour mill at least tries to fake more interest by adding similar profile clubs in our offer is half of his transfermarkt value which is a bit confusing. Screams a little of “get me out of Russia”
I'm seeing a lot of clubs linked, but yeah it's hard to know which ones are/were genuine. I see that apparently Lens tried to buy him last season, so maybe he is someone Still is personally pushing for?
