Seriously though the rumour is that he is meeting Isak and is prepared to offer him big wages to stay together with a promise that the project remains. Rumour only though.

Wages alone won't keep him. We need to be seen to be improving the squad.

It’s not that, it’s they get the level they’re at. Newcastle shouldn’t be after Xhaka, but equally we have wasted far too much effort trying to compete with Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, etc. We should have identified maybe 5 or so targets in almost every position, then clarify who wants to come and who we can afford. We should have very quickly ruled out moves for Trafford, Huijsen, Ekitike, Pedro, Delap and been instantly on to those we could sign. What they appear to have done is have a very short shortlist and genuinely thought, in spite of blatant evidence to the contrary, that we could actually sign these players. It’s a failure from the top down to Howe.

Wissa smacks of desperation, and even then there’s no indication at all that Brentford will sell. Yet we will waste day after day trying to do it.

 

Isak becoming an ambassador for LIV golf they’ll pay him £500k a week but only if he stays at the toon and we pay him £120k a week.
