Lard Ass Hogan has clogged up the works It's not a case of upping the bid by £5-10m and seeing if Forest blink, or moving on as we got outbid or couldn't agree terms, as Gibbs-White has agreed terms and wants to move but Forest are acting in the sort of bad faith usually reserved for Reform candidates so we're in limbo That might have something to do with not strengthening as sorting that mess out is now just as much a priority as signing somebody, hence Palhinha is moving at such an odd pace
The club target is to have a squad that will finish PL top 4 in the 2026-27 season. The CL group stage campaign is claimed to be bringing in 100m over this season. Buying more Richarlisons would be a waste of that money.
Also need to balance the till a little bit, as we're pretty much out of squad places Solomon and Gil are the obvious candidates to move on, but that's hardly clearing the decks
Triggering a player's release clause and having them agree terms only for their club to throw a public bitchfit is "vintage Levy" now?
Weird from him tbh...either used us to get a pay rise or has changed his mind cos the club were going to fight tooth and nail to keep him (like Modric when chelsea came in for him) ....either way he ain't coming so time to move to another target.
The third option is that Forest discovered that it was Gibbs-White who blabbed about his release clause, which means he would have broken his NDA and that would have had consequences - consequences that would disappear if he shuts up and signs what they put in front of him
Failing to land MGW is a really crushing blow. Fabulous player, who seemingly wanted to come, at a price we could afford...and we managed to bollocks it up, somehow. Shades of Jack Grealish... One can only hope that there's a Plan B... ..but there usually isn't. Gutted.
Feels like every 5 or so years there’s a saga with a player where it seems “done” but then suddenly it isn’t. Damiao, Moutinho, Willian, Grealish, Dybala and now Gibbs-White. Probably others I’ve forgotten too. Fun times, man.
Ahh well, at least we tried. interesting that we were prepared to pay that sort of money on one player, especially after just having signed Kudus. It leaves us in an interesting position as fans. Will we see a similar offer for another type of player? I.e an actual plan b? The money is clearly there… Or will it be another “N’someone” from the depths of the lower leagues of Europe, which then makes us question whether we were serious about MGW in the first place? Whatever happens, time is ticking and there’s been little improvement thus far.
Slightly depressing start to my Sunday that. However, you did get the feeling this was going to happen, I've sort of grown numb to it all now over the years! Very interesting 4 games coming up now though, followed by what looks like 2 tough opening games in the Premiership. "Niggling injuries" already being picked up, a few senior players out for a while..... Time to unpack the helmet again and lie low for a bit I think......
It looks like Rodrygo is this windows spurious link to a top level player, in an attempt to placate an increasingly frustrated fan base, it happens every transfer window, linked to top players that never arrive. Levy will never change, he refuses to try and compete at the top table, won`t pay the wages and has no real burning desire to take Spurs to the top.
Shame about MGW but it is what it is. Can’t see Forest bettering their results last season so sure he’ll be off somewhere next summer. With the MGW thing, all the ‘in the knows’ have been quiet about spurs over the last couple of weeks with regards to ridiculous rumours so hopefully the club have been working under the radar to get the next signings through the door.
