Yes, would be nice to see us try to start with an early lead for a change! Maybe start Kelly and Agyemang to try to get in front and start well, rather than having to chase again!
I don't think he meant it shouldn't have been given - more that the defender was stupid to haul her down just as the German player was stupid to pull the French player's flowing dreadlocks when she never even got anywhere near the cross. That was the odd decision. Not the penalty award (both were clearly correct decisions) but the fact that she got sent off for it when it was not actually a goalscoring opportunity for France.
Think that’s considered ‘violent conduct’ now. Someone got sent off for doing the same to Cucurella I’m sure.
Poor love. I'm sure he was mentally scarred by what happened to him- at least until the red card was given and then made a miraculous recovery. Thankfully, I won't ever have to face that traumatic experience.
Like most on here I have never been a great fan of women’s football! But tonight they bloody won! Against better opponents, yet they won! Good on them and well done the Lionesses!!! I for one am very pleased and proud of them, not just our own Chloe Kelly but the rest of the squad and particularly Hannah Hampton for those saves! Go Lionesses!!!!
I didn't think they would win, Spain have been far and away the best team of the tournament. Well done ladies, you dug deep and found a way.
Well done the Lionesses, really glad that I recorded the game to watch later. On the balance of play Spain should obviously have won it, but we hung in there and rode our luck to victory. Not sure why our first penalty was disallowed and had to be retaken with a miss? I thought that was it for us. What a fantastic winner taken by Chloe Kelly, now that was a "proper" penalty kick, absolutely emphatic!
Well done to the lionesses, No sympathy for Spain. They took some awful penalties. Especially the much lauded Bon-ma-teeeeeeeeeeeeeee. You felt after the first half that the Spanish team were genuinely surprised that they were not able to boss the game and coast to victory in the second half. So, once again tippy-tappy football fails when faced with a team playing with belief, passion and desire to fight for every ball.
