I love the effort and energy given by Russo. Be nice if James put a bit more into her game.

But the English defenders seem to be totally ignoring runners. Way too easy.

Spain are very good at moving the ball around at pace, when they get forward, with plenty of runners off the ball.

 

The ball broke inside to an unmarked Spanish player. She passed it to an unmarked Spanish player. The cross was not pressured.

Yep. She is being carried. Why start her when she is injured?

 

Spain are better on the ball, and better off the ball. Their thinking is twice the speed of England’s, and their skill levels are higher.

 

Shame. She has so much talent but she almost looks like she can’t be bothered.

Edit: maybe the injury played into that a bit?

 

And with that James is going off. Poor to play her.

 

Spain really commit numbers when attacking. A few minutes ago they had the ball out on our left, level with our box, and had 8 players in or near the box, with their two holding defenders halfway into our half.

 

Look better already now we have a left wing who can run.

The defending for that goal looks worse every time I see it.
