Root has now passed Ponting for number 2 on the all time Test runs list. Bit of a way to go before he catches Tendulkar though....

 

Take his average divide the runs needed by that, then look at the test schedule over the next years and we'll have a good Idea when he'll get the number one slot

 

Dawson will still be unavailable for Worcs next week, so I imagine it'll be the same top seven. Maybe even the same XI.

 

At this stage I would imagine England won't want to bat again so will be aiming for 650+.

Not watching, but appears as though Dawson failing to claim a regular spot. Lots of runs in the back and lots of over to bowl, but 0 from 30 overs is not what England need from a spinner on day 4/5

 

He's done fine. The pitch isn't turning much. There's more in it for the seamers with uneven bounce. He's been very economical, enabling Stokes to use him in long spells while the seamers rest.

 

Useful runs too. I wouldn’t have a problem if he replaces Bashir, although I wouldn’t take both to Australia.

Worcs' turn this week to be suckered into bowling first due to early wet conditions, and being made to regret it.

 

Nice fightback from Somerset at Trent Bridge after being 0-2 and 25-3, James Rew and Tom Abell put on 313 for the 4th wicket before Abell was caught hooking.

338-4 at stumps, still a chance of maximum batting points.

 

Great, just when you think Hampshire can have a good batting day we go and lose both openers about 3 overs before bad light stops play
