I wonder why he wanted to get away from us so much. Surely we're the better option for him, if he signed a new deal?
The Kelman conundrum. I'd love to know how much of this was just business, and how much was to do with emotional factors. Does Kelman think QPR treated him badly? Did he believe the fans never got behind him? Something else? It really is most odd to have a player on loan, the purpose of which is to develop that player and then, having had him developed, we just sell him! Oh well, we move on.
My guess is that we offered him a contract that he didn't consider worthy and he decided that he could do better elsewhere, and presumably he has. Fair play to both sides, really. If we wind up with £5m it's very good business.
Sell a 24 goal a season to buy an 11 goal a season. They know a lot more than me but buying average players from the division below doesn't normally get you promoted. * Actually I just thought about the team Warnocck got promoted - we are QPR - Maybe it can work.
It'll be interesting to see the team against Brentford, surely it will be what Stephan considers his strongest or we're going to be starting underprepared like last season...
But not as good business as getting promoted to the PL! Imagine how we'll all feel if Charlton, having purchased Kelman, get promoted on the back of his 18 to 24 goals!
If he flops and we only get £3.5m it’ll be seen as good business. If he does what he needs to do to trigger the extra we’ll be the mugs who didn’t give the guy a chance off the back of a great season as he approaches his mid-twenties.
You've obviously not been paying much attention to the pre-season games! If you think Kelman is the answer to us going up, you're a definately a glass half full type of guy. This squad so far is mid-table at best, even a forward like Charlie Austin at his very best would struggle to drag us up to play-offs.
So Kelman didn't want to stay according to the official website Whether that is code for we made him an offer that it wasn't what he was looking for, or whether he just didn't want to stay in terms of the opportunities to play on offer I guess we'll never know Just hope that the strikers that we do have manage to score more than we concede on a regular basis! I wonder if our transfer dealings are just about done??
Apart from Ivan Toney I can’t think of any successful league one striker from the last few years who has done well at the highest level. Probably why the big clubs shop abroad. And also doesn’t bode well for Burrell…..
They probably sold him on being their main forward, so game time, and one of their, if not their highest earner. If we got 3.5 mill plus add ons, and if we got the burton lad on the cheap I’m happy enough with that, we, rightly in my opinion, couldn’t guarantee him what Charlton have. I’d rather have Michi, and develop the others around him.
