The name of a company, like Hoover with vacuum cleaners. As for Fridays at work, it was known as POETS day, piss off early tomorrow's Saturday. :emoticon-0138-think

The thing we couldn't understand Ric was, we'd do that on a Friday and still be allowed to work a 12 hour overtime shift on both a Saturday and Sunday. <laugh>

I wouldn't understand that either...Most places I worked you never got, or were last resort, to gain access to overtime if you hadn't completed your 40 hrs(or whatever your basic hr's were). It made a lot of sense to me as the alternative allowed the 'Monday Club' to use the loophole every week and technically earn more than you if they were on premium rate for weekends etc.

We eventually found out why Ric, turns out we was completing all the remaining contracts as fast as possible so they could shut the place down. Most times we was working 6am 'til midnight, we all thought the company was doing well and we thought we needed more workers because we couldn't carry on with these hours, it was killing us. After three months of it I had to have a weekend off because I was knackered and I just slept for the time I had off. We was earning great money but not having the time off to enjoy it.

I used to work in a building down Osbourne Street and back in the 80’s we used to go upstairs in King Edward above what is now Divas and sink about 6 pints of Sheffield bitter and a huge chip butty served in fresh white bread doorstops. The afternoon’s were spent asleep in store cupboards and on top of boxes until 4 o’clock when we all ****ed off home with a hangover. Happy days.
