I just don’t think we’ll be ‘enquiring’ at this point other than looking at possibilities for deals not landing. I think we’ll be further ahead with some options for the positions we want.
There’s definitely a keeper issue. I don’t know enough about the Ukrainian to comment too far other than to say I watched the last 20 mins of the PSV game as I was waiting on it for a coupon and it was insane the amount of shots, saves and collections he made. Was some crazy game was like the Alamo. 2 keepers who’ve had crazy good games I’ve seen this season are Dahmen at Augsburg and Caprile at Cagliari, both would seem attainable (no links) I think Caprile just took option to buy on like. Again one of the first I mentioned was Hermansen and he’s still at Leicester, and available. Thought he showed a lot in a really poor side last season. He’s prime age at 25 and he’s played PL. .
Regis Le Bris on Sunderland goalkeepers amid Dmytro Riznyk links https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...derland-goalkeepers-amid-dmytro-riznyk-links/ … Another name was thrown into the frame yesterday, with reports suggesting that the Black Cats had spoken to officials at Shakhtar Donetsk to inquire about the potential availability of Dmytro Riznyk. Riznyk, a 26-year-old Ukraine international, has just over two years remaining on his current deal with Shakhtar, and has made more than 150 appearances in the Ukrainian top-flight. Le Bris did not want to discuss specific targets when he spoke in the wake of yesterday’s 3-0 friendly defeat at Hearts, but he confirmed that the acquisition of a new goalkeeper remained a key summer priority. “I think we probably still need to sign a goalkeeper,” said the Sunderland boss. “The market is still open, although the market is unpredictable and it is always like that. At the minute, we are focused on the squad we have – that is always the case – but obviously we will also be trying to reinforce the squad. We don’t know when, and we don’t know how exactly, but we are working hard behind the scenes.” Sunderland’s ownership group have been doing everything they can to try to seal a deal for Granit Xhaka, although a series of discussions with Bayer Leverkusen officials has failed to result in an agreement over the Swiss international. Xhaka has expressed a desire to join Sunderland, with the Black Cats willing to offer him a three-year deal, but Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag has spelled out his desperation to hold on to the 32-year-old. Le Bris was asked about Xhaka’s situation yesterday, but opted to keep his cards close to his chest. “It’s rumours, and I can’t comment on rumours,” he said. “All I can say right now is that we are trying our best to improve the team. We will have to see what happens.” …. “If you look at the Hearts game, then it looks as though we are far away from where we need to be,” admitted Le Bris. “That is clear. But at the same time, it is always a work in progress. “Maybe you get a confidence against a certain type of team or a certain style of play, but then later, if you don’t play with the right level of intensity, you can be surprised, and I think the game against Hearts was part of that process. So, it was useful. Tough, but useful. Then, when it comes to where the squad is at, we will see. It is still unpredictable, so we always have to manage the players we have and be confident with them. But at the same time, we are not naïve and we know we have to reinforce this squad to be stronger.”
Would explain while he’s still there. Quick google suggests they asking for 35m which is ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as the West Ham news article on him that states ‘as we are looking for European football this season we can surely find better’ He’s worth about half that.
I think Roberts and Mayenda will be used as two super subs next season. I also think Wilson will be better in the Premier league because he scores worldie goals and most of our chances will be difficult. I still reckon we need a proper full time striker, the type who will be in the right place such as for the Aleksic cross yesterday.
haven’t seen that mate but if the deal works for both clubs and the agent backs down from moving the goal posts it wouldn’t surprise me, that said it also wouldn’t surprise me if we said we wouldn’t deal with the agent again after the way he went on.
Seen a few more highlights from yesterday. Aleksic did well? I wouldnt mind him getting a chance first half of the season to see if he can be an alternative wide man or even 8 from the bench. Might do as well as another slightly speculative signing?
I think Isak stays mind. But Jackson would be an almighty downgrade. They'd be getting the felt tipped pens and their mam"s tea towels ready.
I can’t see how Isak stays now to be honest, Liverpool already manovering funds for him they’ll sell Diaz and Darwin and that pays for Isak. I’m sure they’ll have received a payout for Jota as well I’m sure clubs insure against things like that and career ending injuries.
Needs a loan imo, he was good when he came on and should have had an assist but Abdullahi was caught on his heals rather than getting across the 6 yard box
