0-3 with a goal by Colby Bishop, from a nice cross by Callum Lang. 47 +2 minutes.

This was after Colby had been poleaxed by what appeared to be possibly an elbow in the face from a Reading defender. He was down injured receiving treatment for 2 to 3 minutes!

Final whistle: 0-4 away win. Could easily have been 6 or 7 to Pompey, to be honest, as Reading didn't really trouble us. Good workout for us, preparing for the new season.

    Portsmouth FC Match Report:-

Pompey enjoyed more friendly success as they eased to a 4-0 victory over League One side Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Colby Bishop netted either side of the interval to register his first goals of the summer, with Jordan Williams and Callum Lang also on target in front of 1,280 travelling fans.

John Mousinho handed a first appearance of pre-season to Lang following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

And there was also a welcome appearance on the bench for the fit-again Ibane Bowat after a year-long stint on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Márk Kosznovszky and Luke Le Roux watched from the stands after signing the previous day, with both awaiting work permits.

They saw their new club take the lead after just four minutes, as WILLIAMS made a darting run through the middle to collect Marlon Pack’s pass and neatly slot home.

There was soon a goalmouth scramble at the other end, although Nicolas Schmid was eventually able to gather the ball.

Most of the chances were taking place in the Reading area, however, and Lang scuffed an effort wide after Josh Murphy sprayed a pass out to him.

The duo linked up again moments later and Lang was twice denied by excellent Matty Jacob blocks, only for the offside flag to be raised.

But LANG did double the advantage on 23 minutes, slamming home from close range after Murphy sent a dangerous ball across the face of goal.

The latter player was proving a menace on the left and his delivery from deep was missed by Connor Ogilvie, with Bishop unable to adjust his body enough to fire a shot on target.

There was a pause in play after the striker took a kick to the face inside the box and needed to be patched up.

But it was BISHOP who netted a stoppage-time third, capitalising to find the target from a couple of yards out when Reading made a mess of dealing with Lang’s cross.

Half Time: Reading 0 Pompey 3

Mousinho made a single switch at the break, with summer signing John Swift on to replace Lang, as Adrian Segečić moved out to the right.

The hosts looked to make a fast start to the second half and Williams was well placed to block Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan’s effort.

But the Blues were soon back on the attack and a teasing Murphy cross could not quite be turned on target by a lunging Swift.

Another centre from the winger on 55 minutes was then turned home by Bishop, although he had clearly strayed into an offside position.

It was only a brief delay to the celebrations, though, as BISHOP got on the end of another low Murphy cross, with his shot having enough power to prevent Joel Pereira from keeping it out of the net.

Bowat got his first taste of action in a Pompey shirt just before the hour mark, with Jacob Farrell, Paddy Lane and Thomas Waddingham also entering the fray.

The defender almost contributed to another goal moments later after winning the ball in the middle of the pitch.

That allowed Pack to drive forward and find Segečić, whose pass across goal was just out of reach for the stretching Waddingham.

There were four more switches on 70 minutes, as Hayden Matthews, Zak Swanson, Terry Devlin and trialist Nathan Ferguson all came on, with Harry Clout soon following.

Pompey remained on the attack as the seconds ticked down and Swift was not too far away from finding a fifth with a curler from the edge of the box.

And they went close again right at the end, with Pereira keeping out Waddingham’s initial attempt and then making an even better stop from Swift’s follow-up.
