Just imagine a universe where Le Bris thought the whole team lacked intensity. You know, given they did - and that’s what he said.
I like Huggins (as poor as he was today) but it’s tangible the impact of having literally no natural left footers in the 11 has on the patterns of play.
I was too young to have been there, but my Dad told me all about it. By the way, he would not hear a single bad word said about the lad. Different days of course, and maybe these days, he would have had a move to develop him or whatever. But goalies sometimes seemed to be permanent number twos in those days. He had Monty in front of him!
Totally, you could totally see it today - need a couple left footers in the back 4 imo to just give us that balance
Err... He struggled for game time in League 2 last season lol. Moore is a better keeper than him right now. He's a decent young prospect but some of our fans seriously overrate his current ability imo...
He'll be fine I think. But,we have to let him grow. Let them all grow. We aren't buying ready made players. We are buying potential, real potential. We got up being pretty radical and we are going into the PL in a similarly radical manner. But the people running us are doing their bit, they are buying players. And they will buy more. A lot of money is being spent in the effort Our bit is to back them noisily when they get on the pitch. And to do it unconditionally. We've seen the power of our backing. We have to let these new lads, and the ones who stay, feel it. HTL!!
I spoke to Malaga today and, yes, Xhaka was there. He gave me the full story, which was a little distorted on the forum, but it's all clearer now. I'd been working so didn't have the full sp but I do now, down to who Xhaka was with, what time it was and exactly what he was wearing. What matters is that it's good news for Sunderland. I've never done this before but, as there are personal things involved, I can only send the details by pm.
@Smug in Boots said he would give an update after the game having spoken to Malaga. Hopefully positive news
He played plenty last season, especially given his age. Doubt any keeper younger got so many games. I strongly suspect he is already better than Moore and is definitely better than Blondy but he needs to play, hence the loan. Moore is satisfied being competition but I think he’s nowhere near good enough for premier league football and probably 2nd keeper at best for most championship clubs. He’s not a bad keeper by any means and did well when called upon but he’s not up to 2nd keeper this season imo.
Salford lot reckoned due to midfield injuries they couldn't play Matty Young with only being allowed 5 loans in a matchday squad, interesting to know how true this is (not the rule but if they had 5 other loans playing)
