I worked for the wood company behind Oriental Pub and we got paid on a Friday morning in the old brown wage packets. We always went into the pub on a Friday dinner and it always depended what mood we where in whether we went back on the afternoon. Although this happened every Friday, they never changed the time they paid us. One time I couldn't afford to go in having been off the previous week so had no wages to come, it got to one o'clock and the foreman asked me to go into the pub and tell everyone in there to come back to work. You can imagine the banter I got aimed at me, then one of the blokes got me a pint in and I ended up staying as well. On the Saturday morning overtime the foreman went ballistic at me for staying at the pub. Those where the days.
