I've been accepted by Loughborough, Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow, but im not sure which one to pick as my first choice.
I've been on the open days and I would be happy at any of them. Have any of you more experienced lot been to any of these Unis or heard any horror stories about them?

Depends entirely upon what you're studying I would suggest. The reputation of some of these places will get you a job before you've even finished. I suppose you've got fees to take into account as well (though as a Scottish student having studied in Scotland, mine were free... BAM!). I know plenty of people who've been to Glasgow Uni, and only one of them had a bad word to say. It was her fault for choosing the wrong course though! Really vibrant community and good campus.

I've stayed on in Glasgow after finishing and I love it. Not too big, but plenty to do, great for music and other events. The locals have a brilliant sense of humour. Highly recommended! <ok>

Can't comment too much on your other options.

    EDIT: That was my 100th post. I hope you're proud! Here's a badger. <badger>

Is it Glasgow uni itself or Strathclyde uni???

Either way it doesn't matter as you can get into Strathclydes student uni with any scottish uni card. Its ****ing magic, cheap beer, pool halls, parties all the time and Glasgow is a quality city. As far as the education goes I am clueless as to which one is better!!

I would suggest Leeds, Liverpool or Glasgow purely for the cities they're in. Like has been said, totally depends on what you're studying.

I went to Leeds, it's a city pretty much entirely based on student life - it's nearly deserted in the summer when they all leave. If you want the 'classic' student experience of regular nights out getting sloshed, a busy, bustling university in the centre of the city and pretty much everything you do and see in the city revolving around providing for students, then go for Leeds.

Me? I hated it, but that's because I detest everything I just described. In terms of studying it is a very good university with a good reputation and I'd recommend it for that reason at least.

Thats what I love about Glasgow as a city, its quite like Newcastle as in its a good size. Big enough to have a bit of variety but small enough to easily get around!!

Big fan of Leeds and big fan of Glasgow. Personally I'd go for Glasgow, the locals are great craic. I'm only talking party time here though. If you're asking for educational reasons then god knows, and you probably should be giving up your place to someone who is going to do it right and get pissed non stop.

Edit: Thinking on is Loughborough not the one with A grade sports facilities. Might be nice that. They'll have bars too afterall.

Yep, best for sports in the country apparently. Its not a very big town but there's plenty of bars there. It's a top 20 ranked Uni too which I don't think any of the others are.

Edit: Another bonus being its close proximity to Nottingham 3 birds to one bloke apparently <ok>

Some good unis there. I would say go to the one you are most comfortable with. If you like big cities then look at Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow. If not then go to Loughborough. What I will say (and this is coming from someone who was looking at unis 6 years ago and in a completely different subject) I did not get a good vibe from Liverpool. Their lecturers seemed a little offish for my liking. However Biology is probably different. Loughborough was a good one that I applied to however I ended up going to Southampton anyway

I've visited my sister at Leeds and it was pretty good. As others have said it's a big city, quite student orientated.

What are the differences in fees? In Scotland they used to be cheaper per year than English universities but the courses are a year longer so it evened itself out. However now they are increasing Scottish fees and I know that Edinburgh uni are wanting to charge £9k a year, so a normal 4 year course would cost £36k <yikes>. Plus you have to put up with smug Scots who do not have to pay anything <grr>. Don't know if it is the same for Glasgow.

Seriously though ive got mates/relatives who go to all of those Unis and ive heard nothing but good things. My cousin does freshwater marine biology (or somes bullshit) at Glasgow and is very impressed by the standard of teaching and Glasgow itself. Leeds is a good party town, dont know much about the uni itself apart from people seem to enjoy it and Loughbrough is good for sports, psychology etc but I don't know about the town.

This <laugh> Much like Manchester, really. Bloody students!! I like to think I hang out in the cool old pubs reading Poe and Joyce and Whitman.

I don't, of course. But I'd like to.

Right, as a current student (currently doing an MA) and one who moved away from home, I'd say Glasgow all the way!

All those Unis are Russell group red bricks and therefore going to help you in the job market regardless.

If you go to Leeds I guarantee you'll be home every other weekend...All my mates who went to Leeds were like that, and although its good as you get to see family and friends and are close enough to make a fair few Toon games, all my mates who did that are now back home, living with their parents, unwilling to move away from the N/E. I'm not advocating moving away indefinitely, but I feel so much more independent on account of moving away.

My oldest sister lives in Glasgow after doing an English degree there a good 12 years ago, she refuses to move away from the city and now considers herself more Scottish than English. Loves everything about it and bitches about every thing that ISN'T Glasgow.

Top nightlife, sound people, quirky without being weird, familiar without being boring...If it wasn't for the fact that my sister was already there, I think I'd have probably gone to Glasgow instead of Belfast!

Joyce and Whitman can go **** themselves (and in all seriousness would probably do it if they could) egotistical, got-to-be-different ****stains, I hated them both!
