This is sort of where I was coming from the other day it’s a horrible thought process but the world does still turn I don’t nor do I pretend to understand the wages but - however I have always thought that players were insured to a certain value - I have no idea how that value is derived but in my head I was thinking surely there will be a lump sum payout this financial year which will have an effect on plans Not to mention we are actually a very very very good player down in The first place. so if we sign two strikers - maybe we were only going to buy one Maybe Ekitike is the Jota replacement with Isak as the Diaz OR Nunez replacement Not both ftr I don’t actually want Isak obviously it will all come out in the wash Certainly been an intriguing window for us
Isak getting closer every day….and if we don’t get him, we’re still sorted. This is genius level stuff from the LFC management team, a window that only a few could have dreamt of.
I'm certain there will be insurance in done regard. It probably covers wages, this is black and white as it is contractual figures. It may also cover the player valuation, this would be extremely subjective though as it would be hard to put a value on.
Think CM Is least of the issues atm. Forward and CB are needed (prob less a forward right now unless Nunez and Diaz both go). Gakpo Ekitike Salah Chiesa Is solid options but Isak on top if Slot sees Ekitike as being able to play from left wing would be ideal. then have szobo Elliott Wirtz and Frimpong who can all do a job out wide on a small Rotation basis.
Be a huge premium because he’s prem proven but with Wirtz and Ekitike new to the league may need a small period of adaptation, getting someone in prem proven who can hit the ground running would be great. Yeah **** tonne of money but if it’s there and it’s number 1 target and isn’t stopping strengthening elsewhere why not? Does seem lfc building a squad for the now but also the next 3 years. Look 3 years in and could be below with only really a CB needed, which might be brought this summer anyway. Mamar Bradley Konate ??? Kerkez Grav Mac Frimpong Wirtz Ekitike Isak
If (IF) we do buy Isak, I would assume we'd have to sell Diaz (who looks gone already) and Chiesa and/or Nunez. But I feel that would leave us a forward short, does that mean Elliott stay and plays as a forward?
Wirtz could play inside left, or false 9. Szobo has played wide right and left for Hungary Frimpong can play wide right Ngumoha / Doak still around and could get minute - albeit I expect the later will be loaned or sold. I think we have enough back up for a rotation option to rest first teamers when games are won, or to play in early rounds of cups or one off games in the league.
I think Diaz and Elliott are most likely to leave. I can see Nunez staying; possibly a loan out but not sure that really helps us, unless he wants it.
For me we have to be changing the approach. While slot as experimented with some positions with a view to later on in the year and cover he has signed two running and attacking fullback backs so I think we should be seeing some changes to the systems of play. I think we could do a lot of things with he team and formations but there is a general flexibility to the players as well to rotate about. I do feel he is very clearly 1 short at cb right now and that should be the next priority. I dont really see the isak stuff, we enquired and got knocked back so have bought thr next one in line. But my view on midfield is simple. The drop off from gravenberch and macallister to endo and jones is massive. Wirtz is 10. We shouldn't really be too sure about him playing any other role as slot has signed a striker. Only time will tell what the final squad structure will be, 31st of August tbh. Only then will we really see the intent. We should be seeing ngumoha as not a massive option unless a foreign slot is available for this season. This is be part of our thinking imo.
Feel Szobo will rotate more with Mac in that slightly deeper role this year - we saw how Mac tired as season went on especially with long flights to S America every couple of months and I’d imagine will be a few games where Mac drops into that deeper role of Grav with Szobo alongside to give Grav a rest. Think those 3 are now a lot more interchangeable and able to rotate more than previous years.
They only signed him in 23/24 so highly doubt his contract expires next summer. Internet seems to suggests ends I. 2029
His injury record is a concern but hes the best 9 around and I trust the club know what they want. They have every piece of information to make those calls.
