An another fing. Ive done a deep dive on this new keeper and he looks like a Brazilian version of Kiko Casilla. Dodgy as hell. We'll all be panicking everytime the ball goes near him. Doesn't come for crosses, doesn't save penalties, doesn't catch the ball and appears superglued to his line when players are put through on goal. Doesn't bode well when Bijol has the turning circle of a canal barge.

Looks a poor signing. Bad vibes about him if he loses confidence.

Does anyone know why he’s getting such praise from some then?

maybe no one has watched him… or maybe Emu is being a bit harsh.

You can make anyone look good with a YouTube vid.

Personally I have no real view if any of our signings to date are any good or not… with the exception of longstaff who I see as a solid if unspectacular edition.

you get a hunch about others… I have hopes for Stach but I’ve not seen him play.

from the saves highlights I thought he looked good on 1v1s. Spread himself well, didn’t go to ground.

Hopefully im wrong and the scouts have got it right.

All I'm saying is that i have a few reservations about him. Ive heard he's one of the best in Europe but it doesn't look like it to me. He looks like an upgrade on Meslier but I don't think he's a massive coup for the club as it's reported in some places.

Suppose i just wanted someone who would command their area. Come and catch crosses, stop the ball going in the net, clear their lines.

This guy looks a bit suspect on crosses and at 6'5" and a unit he should be striking fear in to opposition. Not sure he will do that.

Time will tell. Ive been wrong before and will be wrong again.

He also saved a couple of penis. Meslier never managed that. He was hopeless at them

    That's even more questionable!

Also, what do you Google if pens autocorrects to penis?

This concerns me tbh, you normally have a really good eye for a player.

Someone like Cooper seems so obvious to me, shouts at his defenders, commands his area, makes decent saves and (perish the the thought) can catch a football. He would look like Peter Shilton if he was in goal for Arsenal or Liverpool . Alas, you are young and the underlying problem probably stems from before your time.

You see, the football authorities around the world, FIFA, UEFA, EPL, Football League etc are all corrupt. When we won the last ever proper league, Chrissy Whyte and Fairclough won the ball then passed it back to Lukic. He would pick it up, bounce it a few times and then throw it out to a full back in space or launch it for Chapman to fight out a 50/50. The authorities saw this and, concerned with the potential of our world domination introduced the back pass rule. Nearly saw us relegated the next year.

Now, catching and saving are so much less important for a keeper. You need to be able to roll the ball about under your foot to tease a striker to come after you. Then, providing part A hasn’t gone badly, you need to precariously pass the ball to a teammate who is, hopefully, under slightly less pressure than you so he can draw someone else out. It’s all about making space somewhere else on the pitch, genius providing A and B work <whistle>

I agree with this. You often hear saying about young players, Joseph for example, that Farke ‘didn’t give them a chance’. Sorry, this is professional sport and a ruthless business, you shouldn’t be given a chance, you should earn your chance.

He is an upgrade on Meslier. I just wouldn't get carried away thinking he will be a superstar for us. He does have a mistake in his locker and is prone to the occasional brain fart. As usual, some fans think he is amazing and it's a real coup to get him. The reality is that nobody else really went for him and there is a reason why. Milinkovic-Savic was the real deal but he went to Napoli.

I did suggest Tanaka would struggle with Championship football when we signed him so maybe im not the best judge.

Watch some footage of his throw outs, he looks very accurate, launches it over the half way line for some very quick counter attacks

As has been quoted to me many a time, we have to be realistic on targets, he’s an upgrade on what we have, with 6’4 giants in defence and Stach nobody should be getting a head on a ball against us for corners

On the new keeper I haven’t looked at any of the clips of him but have looked at the stats being posted by very reputable people and some are Leeds fans. He is in the top 2 in France for quite a few bits and in the top 1 for a lot more, so his overall data and remember most scouting is done today based upon data…. Perri is in the top 2 in France for last season.

On Cresswell I remember being trashed by many on this site because I kicked off about the way he was treated and called Farke a dickhead. You don’t hand a guy the number 5 shirt and crap on him. Pointless arguing the toss again but I will go back to a statement Gasperini made at the time of him buying him for Toulouse. We needed a CB and we needed someone who was either top in certain aspects or was potentially going to be top in other aspects, someone who had a lot of upside for the future. In the whole of Europe we chose Charlie Cresswell because he was head and shoulders above every potential top CB. Leadership, fight, heading ability, blocking, goals potential defending corners, defending dead ball, reading the game….. within weeks he was known in the sports media as the flight controller. Well Gasperini has moved on to Roma and he is trying to buy him again. So I really don’t give a fk what FARKE said about Charlie as Farke still needs to prove himself in this new league for me, whereas Gasperini knows his onions. I just think Farke can be a petulant prat who stands no questions. We saw it with Djed Spence the way he dissed him only to for the kid to go to Spurs and did a great job at RB and LB, we saw it with others too including Schmidt, Anthony, poor old Connor from Burnley always seemed to have a good game but was behind young Archie who got shoved to RB. Look at the way he kept sticking up for Meslier and refused to start with Darlow until he was forced into it and guess what Darlow steadied the nerves and we won the league with him in goal…… anyway not going to start kicking off about Farke for a while as he deserves to have a go. But still cannot stand him.

I think what we can say with absolute certainty is, Farke has proved himself, multiple times in the Championship, Cresswell (read Joffy, Greenwood, Grot etc) hasn’t. He’s done ok in France and in a kids competition he is older than, wow. News now has so much to answer for.

I am hearing (lol) Real want Cresswell and Joffy <whistle>
