Nothing has changed really. If the reports are true and he wants to explore his options then fine. We still don't need to sell him and we could still offer him a new contract and he would be more than happy I'm sure to sign it and stay here. All this does is put clubs on alert that they can come sniffing but they will need very deep pockets. We can quite easily slap a £200m price tag on him. Listening to talksport earlier and they're all ****ing frothing at the gash at this news and banging on about him being the best in the world, wants to be at the best club in the world winning champions league yada yada yada. Well the best in world come with a best in the world price tag. If Ekitike is worth £90m, Wirtz £120m, Jackson £100 etc etc then we cut our cloth accordingly and set the bar. If someone wants to pay it I'll gladly take it and we move on. As **** a situation as it is we are in a hugely fortunate position where we have some crown jewels that other people want. I can't remember a time ever when we had so many coveted quality first team players....selling Isak could well be the key to keeping the rest of them. As good as he is he is more than replaceable, it might take two strikers to replace him mind but still. We could do a lot of good with the money, whether we have the right people higher up at the club to spend it wisely on what we need is a different matter but this needs sorting out and ****ing quick sharpish !!
Yes, a huge wages increase beyond anyone else's doesn't work, completely upsets the wage structure and everyone else wants a rise. Would be sad to lose Isak but at same time we're not a £300k person week time right now, and I'm glad of that.
Champion.. He's probably a better player... Isak can go **** himself imo.. Hopefully we get the last laugh and we go onto be something and he ends up being nunezed at Liverpool
Hi everyone. So Isaks shown his cards. And the club made a right hash of covering it up. But if we sell for £200m then we can spend BIG.
Life goes on... Take the coin before he gets an ACL and ends up worthless. Newcastle United will still exist and the battles go on.
100%. We could totally restructure the squad. As hard as it is to replace Isak. Im personally hoping he goes to somewhere like PSG. I can’t see Liverpool being able to afford him.
I remember when Beardsley left leaving us able to spend big. We got Beasant, Thorne, Hendrie and Robertson. None of them covered themselves in glory here sadly.
you haven’t discovered the new element of Copeium yet. just what Gordon did. Downed tools and forced a move. I did warn you…..
Honestly, I didn’t expect Isak to act like this. If we replace him with Sesko for £70-80m and use the remaining to strengthen the RCB and maybe Longstaff & Wilson replacements, then we are all good.
I thought that too and then realised that they didn't buy anybody last year at all. They'll sell Elliott, Diaz and Nunez if they have to would quite possibly recoup around £130m - £150m for those three alone, that's a sizeable deposit for an Isak and probably not much of a shift in terms of wage bill !
I missed Gordon in the final….he just went full John Terry. Isla won’t be around when fans want to vent frustration.
When you look it he never once said he wanted to stay. I'm more arsed about how the media relentlessly peddled the story for 2 years. The player wants to go and tbh its the way football is.. The players only want the clubs at the top... They isn't have time for projects... Let him go and we'll get other good players.
But in theory they were good purchases at the time. Always remember the principle from the Andy Cole sale. It’s not whose being sold that counts but who replaces him.
