I think there's some parallel with cricket here , that used to be on the BBC and Channel 4 then it was all put behind a paywall and I far as I can see there is less interest in the sport I don't know any young people who are interested in cricket I don't think If the Tour de France is no longer on free to air TV in the UK there is going to be less interest in cycling and less young people starting out in the sport
Great ride from Simon Yates and Ben Healy, sounds a bit odd an Irishman with a Black country accent, he's a Brit really. Oscar Onley still looking good also..
Pog hits the deck with 4km to go! Thankfully looks OK but will lose a bit of time.....cracking finish to this stage!!!
yes.....and no.....that happens 20-30km out then they'll defo wait, as it gets closer it's a bit different I guess, the official rule is if there's a crash within the last 3km then you get the same time as others you're riding with, but this was 4km out, only mins before Vingegaard and Evanpoel had attacked, so I don't think anyone would have blamed them for carrying on and taking maybe 10-15 seconds out
So.... tomorrow it begins... will Pogacar be fit enough, he went down hard and VLB have more lieutenants around Vingergaard than UAE have.
Whilst he obviously could have been if he’d been sufficiently bothered at this point, he also wasn’t the maillot jaune.
Yes Pogacar is on another level completely , it's impressive to see but doesn't do much to add suspense to the outcome of the race
He is so far ahead of the field that the result has become inevitable. And this was on a climb that was supposed to suite Jonas as evidenced by his 21? win there over Pocajar. I was hoping for more from Jonas at least to keep the rest of the Tour exciting.
Once again.... destroyed by Pogacar on todays Cat 1 iTT. Oscar Onley a great ride, moves up one in GC.
Rumours abound that Pogacar is ill. Tomorrow, heavy rain forecast and just the highest stage finish of the tour to contend with to ski resort of Courchevel. 5700 metres of climbing!!!! (its not the meters but the gradients)...
It will be interesting to see if the rumours are true, so far he has not put a foot wrong. It looks as if Oscar Onley might just miss out on a podium finish, but nevertheless he has been outstanding so far.
absolute bluff.... its fantastic viewing for those who find it of interest. Onley today was just magnificent, a coming of age day 4th place ... closed to within about 30 secs of a podium place.
Total bluff as you say, Pogacar is in a class of his own, though Oscar Onley was tremendous what a ride, and showed great maturity not to panic when Lipowitz and Roglic went up the road.
