Watch it be some clever ploy to circumvent PSR. Sell him for a fortune to our owners to then allow us to improve the squad
Be a bit strange cos it the places players go if they're wanting a huge payday at the end of their career (Ronaldo, Henderson etc), or if they're not that good (ASM). Players going their at their peak (Bergwijn) aren't that common. Liverpool seems the obvious destination sadly.
Neymar is a lazy waster and went for the money. Mitro went there at 29, wasn't gonna get huge moves after Fulham, and got ridiculous wages in Saudi. Duran is the odd one out there, should have had more ambition than to go there at 21.
He can get there at the end of his career. Right now you'd except him to be wanting to win the Champions League.
Believe it or not Clubs have previously refused to sell players who didn't want to stay. Given what the PIF are reported to have said, it shouldn't be a problem.
More recent signings include: Hernandez 27 Veiga 23 Retegui 26 Carvalho 17 Isak is 26 in about a month.
Nah, if that's the case far more players would be in Saudi. Going to Saudi is a retirement - either you're towards the end of your career or your lazy and just want the money. The quality is nowhere near England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy etc and it obviously shows a lack of ambition for a player at their peak.
That's not a great sample of world football talent, Isak is in a different league to the rest of them.
It’ll be interesting to see what we offered him, obviously we will never know, but realistically Isak could and should be allowed to write his own cheque here. Say he does want £300k pw - you sell Target, Krafth and Lacselles and you have the same wage budget, a happy striker and less dead wood… yes you need some one to actually buy them but there’s got to be a way to offer him what he wants (unless it’s Saudi money)
Ooh good, that means they will have to pay an extra 'pissing off the Saudis' tax. Let's call it say... £200m, plus another £50m add-ons, plus sell-on clause and buy-back clause. Deal, or no deal?
Except Bruno then knocks on your door. With Tonali standing behind him. And Gordon looking over his shoulder and Tina listening in etc. Great idea in theory but never as simple in practice. How many more do we sell to accommodate everyone else?
