I had Gout for a few years . Never known pain like it . Changing diet stopped it . I think that once you get arthritis, it doesn’t get better ? Could well be wrong , but if I had to have one thing , I’d go with having Gout .
Arthritis don't get better, but you learn to manage it, you work out the triggers, the bad times, what you can and can't do and learn to adapt. The pain is controlled through medicaton, so you just shut the signals off to your brain. You just have be careful what medication you have, because some will **** you up, but you learn what is right for you through the pain barriers. I accept like everything there are extreme cases, I'm not chatting about those.
Amazed I haven't got it tbf ... had a pretty big knee op (football related) when I was 19 and always thought that would be prone to arthritis when I got older ... but so far, so good...
Gout is ****. Loads and loads of water helps and you’ll piss it out eventually but that pain when it flares up when you’re dehydrated the day after a few beers is horrendous. There is prescription medication for it which is meant to be quite good but cba. I drink copious amounts of water anyway now. Coffee is meant to help too, oddly, which I also drink to excess. My unscientific opinion is that drinking 4+ litres or water per day and a bit of weightlifting makes any sort of pain more tolerable. You naturally lose I think 2% of muscle mass per year from around 35 and you see a lot of people, blokes particularly, age 20 years from 40 to 45 once the metabolism goes and they don’t get the exercise they used to chasing kids (as fathers rather than *****s).
I used to have gout and now take allopurinol and don't have it anymore. Problem is that gout is different person to person and one mans cure can cause another person a flare up. Cherries is my worst food but some swear it helps them.
Colchicine. That works quickly, break down the crystals that form. The osteoarthritis that forms in the toes is unpleasant but wearing the wrong footwear is the thing that makes is painful. it's generally ok day to day. Any Adidas Originals make my left big toe joint ****ing agony.
Maybe years of wearing Addidas World Cup/Coppa mundials for football hasn’t helped as they are skinny
So near ... and yet so ****ing far ... likely as close as I'll ever get ... but better than lights going out and a kick in the balls ...
This is part reason why I refuse to do the lottery, because even when you get what you've got, although it's nice, it's a ****ing **** payout - but well done anyway Fosse.
