It usually takes a season for a striker to get settled in & get double figures , IF we do sell him for €20m you would expect a replacement would cost half that at least.

Unless Josh forces the move the club shouldn't sell for less , on today's market i would put him closer to €25m

There was no final agreement so he would not have had a medical DHC.

PinkUn now reporting that Sargent ‘snubbed’ the move to Wolfsburg. Possible the wages on offer at the likes of Burnley or Leeds would be more appealing…or maybe he wants to stay!!!

There has been a lot said about Sarge needing to move to get into the US squad for the World Cup, but are they missing the fact that he just hasn’t done it on the International stage for USA. If the league were a problem for Pochetinho then why has Agyemang, recently in the USA squads, just moved to Derby. Obviously he didn’t think it would damage his chances of a call up. If Sarge outscores him in the same league then surely he moves above him in selection, with Sarge having the bonus of knowing the league

I don't think so Suffolk. I think I'm right in saying Agymang has been an ever-present for the US this year, scoring 5 goals in 12 appearances. He is close to being in the "first name on the team sheet" category when it comes to US forward players as far as I can see. I don't see Sarge displacing him; if he displaces anyone it will be one of the other front line players e.g Coventry's Haji Wright or one of the MLS contingent.

So a move won’t help Sarge in gaining his place back in the national team, due to his performances for the national team not domestically.
No need for him to change leagues then, better chance not to risk the change in scenery and continue banging in goals here

With the Sargent transfer to Wolfsburg seemingly a non-starter, I wonder if the owner had already earmarked the fee?

I think the arrival of Schlupp has put this rumour to bed.

Reports of Wolfsburgs pursuit (failed) of Sarge differ. One, Wolfsburg offered only €19m and would not to higher. Two, Sarge turned down the move. Three, City pulled out of negotiations. Take your pick.

€19m is about £16.5m. I would go for 1 and 3 from above. Then 2 when 1 and 3 weren’t up to valuation. £16.5m seems low for a proven goal scorer, but Sargent’s injury record might have persuaded the German side to offer less. As a fan, I would think £16.5m is low, but perhaps that’s being optimistic.

The thing is I would find it strange if Wolfsburg were to resist on the basis of an injury record. You can bridge that gap by agreeing add-on payments based on the number of matches he is available in the next season (or two seasons).

If it really was Wolfsburg not matching his value, that suggests to me they just don’t have the budget (or they disagree on our valuation - which isn’t surprising as English league players are more expensive)

Two signings completed in one day:

    https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.c...ich-city-sign-metz-winger-papa-amadou-diallo/

"The 21-year-old attacker has signed a four-year deal, plus a club option, for an undisclosed fee, believed to be a £4.3m package. The Senegal international, who will wear the number 19 shirt, attracted firm interest from Championship rivals Watford, but his preference was a summer switch to Carrow Road. Diallo’s move is now subject to the standard Football League ratification and a work permit, which is expected to be a formality.

“I’m so excited for this new journey. The sporting director and head coach have been very important for me and I can’t wait to start working at the club,” said Diallo. “It has been my dream to play in England – something new for me. But I am ready and prepared for the challenge ahead. I really always wanted Norwich City. I am excited about the project and the vision for this club and I can’t wait to come to England and meet my new team-mates and the supporters.”

Schlupp seems like an astute depth signing, can cover LB to start the season and is another option in the middle of the park or wide midfield if we're desperate. Realistically a replacement for Sorensen's main use in the past.

Really like the look of Diallo as a Sainz replacement, and promising we were able to outcompete Watford for his signature.
