It’s a pre-season friendly against a non-league side, albeit one managed by Paul Wotton. Let’s not get carried away.just as we shouldn’t get too depressed if it goes the other way at this early stage.

Still, a step in the right direction, some good goals in there apparently and two from Joe Edwards! And a clean sheet.

    Cleverley on the game:
    1. Had to weather the first 10 minutes but things seem to be coming together.
    2. Took control in the following 35 - very pleased.
    3. Not that easy to please though is he? Got the 2nd and 3rd and went a bit sloppy, glad to bring the subs on, who brought it to the next level. If we'd been ruthless in the first half, could have had a couple more.
    4. Thought Mumba and Amaechi were outstanding, both are very difficult to stop, as if they are prevented from coming inside, both have the capability to go on the outside, making them hard to stop. I can certainly vouch for Mumba on that. He also mentioned the two full backs making supporting runs.
    5. Pleased with the good football on show but also that team did the defensive basics well.
