I noticed that Aidan O'brien had Cactus running at Naas. She had been very prominent in the 1000 Guineas betting after being third on her debut. She sat at 20/1,not far behind Venetian Sun at 14/1,which seemed nonsense after running in a 5F maiden at Naas, while Karl Burke's filly has won Group 3 and Group 2 contests.
Anyway, you would have thought a horse with such an elevated position in a Classic ante post list might be a shoo in for a maiden but she was 5/4 against. When I saw she was taking on colts I wasn't tempted and just as well, as she trailed in 9th after a total flop.
I notice that very few 2yos who start their careers over 5F go on to win a Guineas. The question for Venetian Sun as favourite is whether she can win at 7F this season. So many times Liwther and Cheveley Park winners do not make it when trying a mile at 3yo.
