He may well be. But think of Vardy. He was playing non League football until he was 24.

Sign Wissa on a 4 year contract and sell him on to Saudi league in 2/3 years for half what you pay for him, minimal loss and if he scores 25-30 goals over those 2/3 seasons he’ll have done a very good job for us.

I've been a bit down on the potential for signing Wissa and I think it's probably just me being a little snobbish. He has a good record in the PL so why am I not more up for this signing? I think there are 2 reasons (neither of which is his age)

    Reason 1.
Wissa is our second choice Brentford player and in my mind we should be aiming higher than that.

    Logical argument against:

Who cares? He is a Wilson replacement, not an Isak replacement. If we added half of Wissa's goals to our team last season we probably finish second.

    Reason 2
I don't believe that Brentford are going to let him go for £30m as reports are suggesting, especially if the club has an extra year option on his contract.

    Logical argument against:
At this stage if he costs us an extra £20m over our initial rejected £25m offer, then we just go with Pope next season instead of spending that on Trafford. If Wissa helps us get CL again next season, that pays for his fee and keeps his value up. If we can sell him in 3 years for £15m then that would go as a slight profit on PSR anyway.

All in all, he will likely be a good purchase if we get him for the right now. I would still like to see someone like Georges Mikautadze come in out of Lyon. Young, cheapish and has a really good record in Ligue 1 despite limited minutes

But we have young attackers. They don't get the minutes. Might as well scrap the u21s.

Mikautadze I would look to do a Minteh with. Buy and loan out immediately (maybe he can stay with Lyon for one more year). Just take advantage of Lyon's pressing financial issues to get a player ready to go if/when Isak goes next summer.

Sorry I wasn't saying no to your suggestion. More other posters constantly wanting us to sign young players for the first team when we have quality youngsters already here but not getting any playing time. No idea who's in charge of our loan system (can't believe it's just Shola) but we should be sending the youngsters out on loan to foreign clubs.

We have two quality centre backs (Not Murphy as he should be class as a squad player for the first team), we have a quality right back, a quality winger, two quality midfielders and two quality strikers (not includng Osula) (when I say quality, I mean potentially quality). All of these should be loaned out and if it is you, Shola, I don't mean to league 2 teams

Second choice Brentford player isn't an argument really, as both their strikers were in great form last season. Wissa has the bonus of being able to play up front and on the wing as well, so with Isak as well as in place of him when he needs resting. For me this signing is a no brainer if we can get it.

We still have hope before Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the only option on the table.

If we sign Wissa for £30m on a £150000 contract and he sees out his 3 years (because he's done well) would cost the club just over £50m (not including bonuses etc)

Imagine signing Sesko for £70m (approx) on same wages as Wissa but over 5 years.

With Wissa we know what we're getting on the PL.

Now imagine Sesko does poorly for us. After 3 years we find a buyer for £30m. Our overall cost for Sesko would be over £60m

For those wanting the younger player there is far greater risk. At this stage I can see why the club are being cautious as we need every transfer to go well.

Wissa would be a cracking signing if it happens. He's Wilson's replacement, a proven premier league forward who scores goals. What more could we ask for?

Not sure why all the fuss over fees and age none of us know what our PSR status is like that's for the club to worry about.

Talks continue for Wissa, allegedly with it being about coming to an agreement rather than bids.

Translation: Spurs have said "you two spend weeks sorting out a fee, then we'll match it and offer better wages within 5 minutes".

Don't get the Wissa opinions on here, similar scoring record at Brentford that Wilson had at Bournemouth. I thinkbits a potentially brilliant signing

According to some on here the only brilliant signing is a 19year old from an Ecuadorian village, that our scouting team has been watching since the age of 6, that we can buy for no more than a bag of chicken feed, but will be able to go straight into our first team, and take the PL by storm in his first season.
