Not sure what you mean here. Do you mean create a Hall of Fame? We do already have one. Two players from every decade are inducted. Contenders for inductees for 2010-2020 decade are still under consideration. Jota signed in September 2020 so he could technically be added to the shortlist, I think, although the period under consideration may be the end of year 2019.
I'm not sure that's 'necessary' but I'm not going to argue against any idea that someone has concerning gestures or memorials.
There will come a time, in 3 to 5 years, when this makes far more sense. Why should one player, a tragically missed friend and teammate of the current squad, have more or different treatment to the passed on legends of past years. Theres rightly shock and sorry at a young man passing that was respected and loved. and now the club has to get on with normality and is doing so. As you walk round anfield theres thousands of memorial stones, literally thousands for people to love lfc. There's benches and statues and very special and significant memorials done tastefully and appropriately. I'd like to see a jota memorial in the same area physically but online I'd like to see all the former players who are family have a section The hall of fame is a different thing to my mind and about elite performers. Having a sections where their stories are told even if not as famous as some would be good. One club, one family, one away of remembering.
You're confusing me now with this comment because it's different to what you said in the previous comment I quoted. I'm not going to dwell on it because it isn't important.
I suppose i am forming my opinion on this still. I dont like it as not everyone can be added to a section like thst and at some point someone will do the same as moving the eternal flame off the badge and other the back of the shirt. It will be moved out of there. Why not create a memorial section with former plauers and staff? Seems logical to me.
I go back to what I said a while ago. Jota's passing has no precedent, thank God and I don't want it to be the start of anything, (without spelling it out, you know what I mean). I think the club has handled the whole situation magnificently. Retiring the number 20 is so appropriate. Jota didn't retire or transfer out. He remains our 20 forever. Other gestures will no doubt occur like a memorial garden or a trophy designed in his name to be given, for example, to the Academy player of the year, so his passing is marked and remembered and a little legacy is instigated.
I got you. It is what it is, but we also can take the opportunity now in front of us (we can only act now for the future, we can't change the past) I think something grander is in my head than just a section down the bottom of a team list below the forwards and above the on loan players.
The wall with fan massages? Yeah thats impactful I dont think either of the other murals done for jota really captured him.but they are doing their best to get them dont fast.
The club had nothing to do with it. It was commissioned and paid for by Redmen TV. All the Liverpool related murals are commisioned and paid for by fans. The design for the Jota and Andre one was chosen by fans and crowdfunded.
