Good advice marra. Ive decided to man up and face it, once, or rarely twice a year, these past 20 odd years, usually around my birthday... Monday coming Cherry supplement at hand.
My great grandad had it, in the toes i think. My mam says that somebody else in the room just had to raise their voice or shout and it somehow hurt him.
I think it’s one of those pains you can never really explain and it’s only understood once you’ve experienced it. Grim
Colchine, or however you spell it, when the gout is active. Allopurinol to keep it a bay once it’s gone. I’ve had it a few times, not since I’ve been on Allopurinol though. Worst pain I could imagine. I honestly think if I’d chopped a couple of toes off with a blunt saw, it wouldn’t have hurt as much.
Never had gout but I’ve had really strong naproxen. Make sure you ask for the tablets to level the naproxen off otherwise they’ll give you crippling stomach pains.
Think I just got the gastro resistant ones and had no stomach pains. The old school versions did used to give a bad pain in the stomach.
I can also attest to it being the most unbearable pain I've ever had and I know that feeling with the bed sheets! As others have said, you're best off getting Naproxen as soon as you can but in the meantime alternate ibuprofen with paracetamol every 2 hours (4 hours apart for each one). That seemed to help with me a little before I was finally put on allopurinol. If you need to put anything on your feet to leave the house, try to find the loosest fitting trainers you can as well as it's hell putting even a sock on! Last bit of advice, don't elevate your foot! If it's anything like mine used to be, once you come to lower it the pain will hit you like a train!
Many sympathies. I have had random attacks. Quite rare really, and not worth medicating according to the docs. Clearly not as severe as most get it, but pretty painful. One thing I did learn not to do was put your foot in cold or iced water, which is kind of an instinct as your foot feels on fire. This is apparently the worst thing to do because it hardens the crystals causing the pain. Good luck! Hopefully it's a one off.
I had it once 2 and a half years ago but it only lasted like 4 days. I had the same symptoms Tees has mentioned and have always lived in fear it will come back! But I have learned some good tips on here if it does!
Actually just realised the pro max cherry I take are 2100mg. Checked after this thread and re ordered some more form Amazon as I was running low!
