Flattered to deceive, he has had some hamstring problems and whilst he is decent on the ball, he's not much of an athlete.

Strange one with these lads but always struggle to be optimistic about a young player coming through if they haven't played any senior football by the time they are 20 - Same for the likes of H.Jones and Middlemas who are on the fringe I just get the feeling if you haven't already made it here by the time your hitting 20 you probably aren't going to - Not to say they wont go on to have stellar career in the game

    Anyone thoughts?

Once players get to the age of 20/21 they need to go out and get senior football experience. I've seen too many good players stay at U21 football for too long and then totally struggled to step up to play senior football.

Hope some of our promising young players get loan deals so they get that exposure to senior football rather than just playing u21 football

How many players have broken out of U21 football at 20/21yrs old and made it at the top level? Not any spring to mind

I feel that there should be some form of compulsory system to get these lads football

How old are our most promising young players? Trey 19? Scott 18? Neill 16?

Not many I would think but Jamie Vardy was released at 16 and he was 23/24 before he started to get noticed.

Yeah two good examples of players who dropped out of the academy system and played mens football to get noticed - Im thinking of players brought up in academies who then break into team after there teen years

    Probably only GK's

Ben White was a month away from 23 before he broke into Brighton's team, he did have successful loans outside of the Premier League before that.
Trevoh Chabolah was 22 when he broke in at Chelsea, again after loans.
    Dewsbury-Hall, 23.

Just a quick check of the top-4.

I think you basically get until 23 but you must have loans, ideally multiple and of increasing quality opposition. Some players blow the gates open at 19 but there seems to be examples of slower growth. The paradox is that teams like Chelsea and Man City have more space to integrate talented youngsters due having so much quality around the squad to compensate one or two young lads who are not quite ready, also they're in more competitions so have more games.

Loans is so crucial isnt it?

Do we have a loan manager? Remember it used to be bally way back - I think im right in thinking that is the job Johnny evans has took on at man utd

A few of the young lads would benefit from a good loan

    Geragusian - 17
    Young - 19
    Scott - 17
    Ogunsuyi - 19
    Neill - 17
    Jenson Jones - 19
    Jaydon Jones - 18

    etc etc....

Big season for a lot of these kids, although to answer your first point - quite a lot at real madrid and barcelona stay in the academy for years before getting a chance at 20-23 years old.
